Auto Pause between songs in a playlist

Hi there
I want to use iTunes to play backing tracks to sing to and would like it to move onto the next song but not start playing it until I tell it to.
Is this possible?
I can get it to play single songs and stop, but it doesn't move on to the next one.
If iTunes won't do it can anyone recommend a program that will?

This does exactly what you want -> Stop Track!
"This script applet runs in the background while an iTunes playlist is playing. Whenever the accompanying "STOP TRACK05sec.mp3" track is encountered, the script will stop iTunes and advance to the next track, which you can start manually."

Just put the STOPTRACK05sec.mp3 between all the songs in the playlist and it will stop and go to the next track. When you are ready to start the next track, simply press the Space bar/Play.

hi chris yes of course it is, but having no auto pause option built in to this software is in my opinion a fundamental error, if you cnsider such devices as mini disk and cd players and the freeware available for windows, which pc based i tunes and i pad based i tunes could replace in a pro environment, they all allow users an option to play all or play single tracks.

While this fix of dougs is only open to mac users, which i am not, i am never going to invest any time in itunes, as for me it will always be considered as bedroom software and not be taken serious. If i wanted to run this script on an ipad, would i need to borrow a mac to install it??

cheers
