exchange stops syncing

at my office we use mail.app under snow leopard with a hosted exchange server. one staff member has a recurring problem where mail.app will stop syncing with our exchange server randomly. it still works on her blackberry, the outlook web client is sending and receiving just fine, her internet connection is a-okay, but for some unknown reason, every so often, mail.app will just stop sending and receiving her mail. the connection hasn't dropped out for anyone else in the office. it's working just fine on my machine.

has anyone encountered this behavior before and figured out a solution for it?

I am having the same problem.

Using Apple Mail on Snow Leopard with Exchange 2007. I created my account, used it for a few days. The sync stops working (no new email shows up in Apple Mail) and emails start disappearing from the exchange server (don't show up in Exchange Webmail)... but I can tell they are there becuase I see them on my BlackBerry (we have a BES server attached to the Exchange server).

My Mac stops stops syncing with Exchange overnight and I do not receive new mail messages. Looking at the Activity window, several processes are not progressing and some appear hung. I can put my Mac to sleep during lunch and it syncs fine when I wake it back up but not if it has been asleep all night. The Mac in question is a 24" Intel version but I had the exact same problem with the G5 I had previously. Other than the overnight problem, it rarely has a sync problem. When I have the problem I have to quit Mail and restart it. Sometimes I can stop all Mail activities and then hit "get mail" but that does not always work.

At home where I have to connect with Cisco VPN before getting my mail, I have the same problem. It will usually not get mail if Mail was running prior to VPN and often not the first time I start up Mail after VPN. Same solutions there.

In fact, this is the problem I am visiting the forum to figure out this morning.

Running into the same issue here. I was hoping to get away from Entourage, but for now I'm stuck with it. Mail.app continuously stops syncing mail with our Exchange server. Like others have stated, I need to quit and start Mail several times before it continues to sync. A few hours after getting it to work, syncing will stop once again. This issue is not isolated to myself, all users of Snow Leopard at work run into the exact same issue.

I'm quite surprised Apple has not addressed/fixed this bug.

My Mac Mail (v4.3) seems as if it is getting hung syncing my inbox with our exchange server (2007). Everything was working fine, then one day it got hung, so I rebuilt my library, which seemed as if it was working but then it stopped adding message in myinbox past July 26, 2010. It seemed as if Mail has been working syncing all of my other folders, which I believe it has, but everything has been really slow & having trouble opening any messages. I have had it re-syncing for over a week now & it has ceased making progress.

I have quit & reopened mac mail several times to try to get it to refresh, but to no avail.

What can i do to get Mail to continue to sync again? or resync? what is the best way to go about this? HELP!!

I also run Mail on my Macbook Pro laptop & everything has been fine. I am just having this issue on one of my machines.

I have the same problem as others in this thread. After a while Mail.app just stops syncing. I have to restart the application to receive mails again. It's very annoying. Someone claimed they had read somewhere that it could be fixed by changing a setting on the Exchange 2007 server. Since I'm the owner of the server I have problems maintaining sync with, I could change whatever settings I want. But unfortunately I have found no further evidence regarding these supposed server-side settings that could resolve the issue.

Has anyone had any luck finding a fix or workaround for this? I am seeing more cases of Mail not synching with Exchange all the time.
My only solution at present is to switch the user to Outlook 2001 for Mac which does not appear to have this problem.
I have also made some further points on a separate post at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2782607

Hopefully a fix is being worked on.

This problem has been occuring on my laptop - MacBook Air, late 2010, running Mail (Version 5.1 (1251/1251.1)) and OS X Version 10.7.2. Initially it was really just a small annoyance as the activity spin would always be going (and using up some CPU/Battery) - but recently, as in the last week, when it gets in this "Stuck" state, it no longer downloads new mail into the Inbox associated with our exchange server.

Going into Window/Activity - I see it's stuck in "Fetching new Mail - Synchronizing Tasks" - and it just stays stuck there. Thing is - I don't have a "Tasks" folder visible in the Mail.app interface - so there is little (nothing) to synchronize too, that I know of.

Anybody else get stuck on Fetching new Mail - synchronizing tasks?
