iPad Safari crashing regularly

Safari on my iPad is crashing fairly frequently; sometimes when I restart it retains the pages that were previously open, and sometimes not.

Have not yet established a pattern, but it seems prevalent on very large pages (for example pages with many images) and on pages with embedded video (particularly Flash).

Anyone else experiencing the same issue and/or have any further information? Anybody using a browser other than Safari on the iPad?

Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Bought 4th generation with iOS 6 in Jan. 2013. Has never been the same since I accepted iOS 7. Safari crashes several times/day, every day. Load a page next to my wife's iPad 4th gen with iOS 6, and you can see how way slower my devise is, and has been since I took iOS 7. That fact alone demonstrates iOS 7 was a downgrade for me. I feel like Apple degraded my devise less then a year from my purchase, and I just have to accept it. I do, but a I sure don't like it. The number of Safari crashes per day began to go up dramatically perhaps 2 months or so ago. As far as Safari loading like a snail, or not at all, that too is very common, and sometimes I switch to Chrome to get around it.

A couple of months ago maybe, I started completely powering my iPad Mini off overnight every few days. Since that time I have had zero crashes and, before, Safari, My Fitness Pal, Words With Friends, and other apps either crashed regularly or the screen refreshed itself every time I moved from one app to another. It seems that powering it on and off clears out the memory and it's stable for a few days.
