iPad not charging with 10W USB Power Adapter

Hello everyone.

I tried to charge my battery yesterday with my 10W USB Power Adapter, but it seems that iPad isn't recognizing it as a power adatper. When I plug it, iPad shows me the message Not Charging, the same message that appears when I plug iPad to a USB port. I then connected it to a USB port and my computer doesn’t recognize it anymore. I turned iPad off and plugged it to the power outlet again. The iPad turned on automatically and the message Not Charging appeared. I disconnected the iPad from the outlet and connected again. Nothing happened. As I needed to charge my iPad and it seems to be recognizing my 10W USB Adapter as a normal USB port, I just turned it off again, plugged it to the outlet and when the Not Charging message appeared, I put the iPad to sleep and let it charged this way. A left it over night and it charged from 20% to 89%. The big problem is that now I can’t connect my iPad to my computer, which is a huge problem. What should I do? Any Clues?

I am having the exact same issue.

1) When I connect my iPad to the 10w Power Supply, I get "Not Charging".
2) When I connect my iPad to my computer, neither the iPad or my computer are connected to each other.
3) Done variety of troubleshooting with second iPad, extra cables, etc. Its 100% related to my iPad.

This was working perfectly fine 2 days ago. With my 10W I was getting charged, and my Computer/iPad connected.

I will be taking my iPad into my local Apple Store tommorow and see what they have to say, I will update once I get back.

Took my ipad into the Apple Store today, they verified that they also could not "see" it when connected via USB. They verified that all the pins were there in the connector. They booted the iPad in "diag" mode and connected it, they still could not see it.

After about 5 mins of diag, the Apple Store replaced my iPad, I was in and out of the store in about 20 mins. With the new iPad, I no longer have the issue.

This morning, I noticed that when I hooked my iPad up to the 10W charger that came with it, I get the 'Not Charging' message. My sister's iPad works fine, so I guess mine is screwed. True enough, iTunes doesn't see it as well. The problem is, iPads aren't available in Malaysia yet, so I can't send it back to Apple (mine came from Australia).

What a bummer...

It's the same for me. All reliable connectivity stopped at some point, my iPad isn't being recognized by my computer 49 times out of 50 attempts. Before, I was able to charge it after plugging it in continuously, but it's not working today. I'll find my way to the store.

Oh, and resetting the iPad is not a good idea... It still didn't connect, so you're stuck with an iPad that only tells you to connect to iTunes, which is exhausting.

I'd like to "Erase All Content and Settings", but I'm afraid that my PC (or I should say iTunes on PC) won't then recognize iPad. Then I'd be stuck with non-working iPad. At the moment it works, but without iTunes.

iPad's first connection was made with Mac Book Pro. I'll try to connect iPad to that particular Mac. Do you think that this initial connection is the root of all problems?

Use the adapter, not PC usb port, and use the large "ipod" cable which has clipses on sides, if you dont have get one from a friend and try. original Cable inside does not work. This thick edge cable charges only 62% on my pc and stops. probably it will charge more on laptop's. But on wall electric and original adapter I could charge only with my old ipod cable. Original cable didnot work even connecting Itunes on my pc. But it might work on laptop. After testing, I'll add reply.

Craziest thing! Was told other day to not try to charge iPad w/iPhone charger and indeed seemed to barely charge if at all. Told to use larger square shaped one that came w/ iPad. Then today "no charge" msg while using correct charger.....but at moment ::seems:: to b charging w/ phone charger only. Still says only 10% power but at least no longer getting "not charging" msg......I'm keeping my fingers crossed! ( as my desktop computer is suddenly inaccessible because cinema display black - attached to Mac mini - seems common problem...?..) errrr!

Since yesterday, my iPad sudenly stopped recognising the original charger and cord. No "Not charging" message, just nothing. Nevertheless, the iPad does charge a little when connected using the power cord but it takes ages and will never get it fully charged for me to use it normally. I can't connnect the iPad to the computer anymore either as the connection is not recognised. Rebooting does not change anything.

My iPad is just under two years old and I was expecting it to work for more than that time given its price. Apparently from what is said on this post, all other people who have had the exact same problem had their iPad replaced under the warentee as no one ever truly found out what was wrong.

I find this **** stupid! Why can't we find out what is wrong and simply have it fixed? I don't want to have it replaced when the entire iPad is working fine except for charging (What a waste!).
