iPad not charging with 10W USB Power Adapter

Hello everyone.

I tried to charge my battery yesterday with my 10W USB Power Adapter, but it seems that iPad isn't recognizing it as a power adatper. When I plug it, iPad shows me the message Not Charging, the same message that appears when I plug iPad to a USB port. I then connected it to a USB port and my computer doesn’t recognize it anymore. I turned iPad off and plugged it to the power outlet again. The iPad turned on automatically and the message Not Charging appeared. I disconnected the iPad from the outlet and connected again. Nothing happened. As I needed to charge my iPad and it seems to be recognizing my 10W USB Adapter as a normal USB port, I just turned it off again, plugged it to the outlet and when the Not Charging message appeared, I put the iPad to sleep and let it charged this way. A left it over night and it charged from 20% to 89%. The big problem is that now I can’t connect my iPad to my computer, which is a huge problem. What should I do? Any Clues?

Hi all,

I just spent 30 on the phone with Apple troubleshooting the same problem:

- iPad would say "not charging"

- iPad would say "charging not supported with this accessory"

I was using the apple charger and USB cord that came with my iPad 3.

Turns out it was the USB cord, they shipped a bad USB cord. When I switched it out for the one that I was using with my iPhone it works fine!

Suggest that you try swapping out the USB cord for another Apple USB cord. They will replace them at the Apple Store free of charge.

I didn't believe it at first but it seams to have solved the issue.

My problem regarding usb to Mac, PC, and Power brick was out of position 30 pin connector.

That was why no connection or power to them no matter what I tried different USB cables.

My step was below.

I unglued screen of my Ipad3 and I checked the 30pin usb part inside.

30 pin usb part was too far or pushed into inside to connect fully with usb.

as soon as simply I pushed out 30 pin to original position in order to connect usb , power was on.
