ipad unlimited data plan

I purchased ipad on 2nd of June. Was told unlimited data plan would be honored if ipad was purchased before June 7th. There doesn't seem to be anyway to get that planned honored. Called Apple after receiving my Ipad on the 17th and they said yes that they got a memo from AT&T that said they would honor the the unlimited plan but Apple said to call them because they had nothing to do with the implimination of the plan. Call AT&T and they said no that it was Itunes that was managing the service. Check on line in Itunes and they say call AT&T for any plan question. Is this the run around or what? Anyone have any ideas.

I posted this in another thread but here it is again:

Following the instructions of others posted here I called AT&T at 1-866-640-5125 on Tuesday 22 June 2010 and requested the unlimited plan. The rep had me sign up for the 2GB plan and said I would be switched in 7-10 days.

Today at 5:30am PDT I called the same number 1-866-640-5125 and the rep asked for my cellular (ipad) number. She first said the unlimited plan was unavailable, but I POLITELY insisted and explained about the grandfather option. *She then IMMEDIATELY upgraded me to the unlimited plan!!!* She did say that AT&T would verify my original purchase order with Apple and downgrade me if I did not meet the deadline of 6 JUN.

And she did warn that this plan is tied uniquely to this specific iPad. If I lost it or broke it, I would NOT be eligible for the unlimited plan again. (nuts)

So be polite, and call today and they will now upgrade you to the unlimited plan immediately!

I guess the key is to already have a 2GB plan established as you have to give them the cellular phone number associated with that plan.

p.s. hmm wonder how much one of these unlimited plan iPads will fetch on ebay. (more than its weight in gold?)

Again: the number that I called is 1-866-640-5125

I called yesterday and was quickly able to speak to a service rep. They had me sign up for a 2GB plan which they then upgraded to an unlimited plan. I then asked about if I can keep this option without having to pay each month for a service I don't use often. The answer was "No". I have been reading that "details will follow" but I have not seen a single word about AT&T giving customers what they were promised to have on the purchase of the iPad 3G. I honestly cannot afford to keep paying for a service I will use on occasion when I need it. That was the deal that was promised to customers, that is the deal that customers should be getting.

Luckily it seems that AT&T is getting slapped with a lawsuit that they cheated customers about details surrounding the new limited data plans. Hopefully I don't have to keep paying for a service that is not going to be used all that often.
