Can someone please explain this in plain English? What exactly is the "minimum monthly remittance amount threshold"? If I plan to sell my book for $4.99, does that mean I have to sell 30 copies (about $150) before I receive a penny in profit? And would that be 30 copies per month?
I am a self-publishing first time author, so I may have difficulty selling a high volume (although I hope to!), but I've already created the ePub files myself and purchased ISBNs. It doesn't make sense to pay an aggregator to do nothing, especially if they take an additional percentage of my revenue.
Can someone help define the minimum number of copies I need to sell to justify pulishing in the iBookstore? Are there any liable costs if no copies are sold?
As far as I can tell going through any aggregator with the exception of Smashwords is not worth it.
As long as you have access to a Mac you can set up an iConnect account, which runs like Amazon and B&N (more or less) when it comes to commissions etc.
Smashwords will set you up for free though they will take a cut, and are slower to pay than Apple directly. Omni-Lit's program was decent as well, the rest that I checked out were crazy expensive for a small publisher.

Did this question ever get answered? I self published an iBook in iTunes, but so far have only sold about 7 copies. 😟 It's been out for several months, but I haven't received any kind of payment.
Seeing as I barely sold any it's not that big of a deal, but I'm curious about what the min. number of sales is before I start getting any kind of return from my book.
Obviously my book isn't a money maker, but I still hope to up my sales with future marketing strategies and such. I think the legal terms of service have changed recently, but I still don't understand it!
Any idea?
This is my book btw, in case that helps.

I'm still proud of it, even if no one bought the darn thing!
