Newest Version of iTunes and Windows Logo problem

I just tried to download the newest version of iTunes, but I get a warning about how it does not meet Windows Logo requirements and how it could change my entire computer system. Can this happen?! My iTunes is an older version and it has been working fine, up until now. When I try to open iTunes now I get this message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close". I can't even charge my iPod.

Sorry Diane, I've been a bit caught up in other threads today.

Could you possibly attach a copy of one of the files that is crashing the iPod sync to an email to Roy B at the following email address?

<royb@apple.com>

(It might be worth mentioning that b noir asked you to do that.)

In the email to Roy, be sure to also include the following information:

A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
The username you are using in the thread
The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
A concise description of the issue you are seeing
The exact text of the error message you are seeing

(I've been brooding over this trying to decide if we're most likely to be having an issue with a content file here or possibly some kind of exotic iTunes library file damage. Roy's probably best placed to confirm or rule out a content file issue.)

🙂 no problem, Diane. It's been a pleasure.

Here's a recap of my line of thinking with getting Roy to check the file (it's crystallised a bit for me since making the suggestion). There's a clash of iTunes crashes out there at the moment that seem to be related to artwaork on certain tracks. On systems with 9.2 installed, the faulting module is usually QuickTime.qts rather than objc.dll. But you've got the latest version of Apple Application Support installed on your PC (1.3.0), like the folks with the 9.2 iTunes. So I'm thinking it's plausible that you might be getting the same issue as them, it's just displaying in the error messages a bit differently because you've got an earlier version of iTunes installed.

Hi there, I emailed Roy with the information you told me to include, but unfortunately, this is the automated response that I received.

"Thank you for contacting me. At times, I collect data files from customers or ask for more information about specific issues, but I am unable to provide one-to-one support. If you are in need of technical support, refer to the Apple support page for your options."

So, that's a dead end I guess. I'm not really sure what else to do with this.

🙂 Not all hope is lost, Diane ... I would also get that automated email if I sent something through to the Roy email address.

When there's a number of links at AD through to Roy's account, all manner of things end up being posted to him, so it's a sort of preemptive "sorry" to the folks who weren't asked for stuff. Does the email also still refer to "Helpers" at Apple Discussions who sometimes direct stuff to him? I believe I still count as one of those, although I haven't been doing many referrals through to him in recent months/years. So we're trying to get through to him under the "helper-referral clause", as it were.

Probably Roy won't be able to get to it until the start of the US working week (it's 4th of July weekend at the moment?) and there's likely to be a bunch of other stuff lurking in the inbox for him. So let's leave it a few days, and fingers crossed he'll be in contact. (Lack of contact can also have purely innocent causes. There's always the danger that the email will get lost in the pile of other stuff that shows up for him in his inbox.)

I have the same problem as the first thread. I'm scared to death to install any other versions of iTunes. I'm currently running 9.1.1.12 and now since v.10 came out I'm having a problem syncing my iPod. It tells me that my iPod could not be synced because the required disk space could not be found...??? Can someone tell me what to do, sniff, BEFORE I have a total meltdown? 🙂
