Indeed, get Goodreader and forget iBooks.
I got Goodreader, and unfortunately is seems like Goodreader's rendering capability is not as good as iBooks. I opened a pdf in Goodreader and noticed that the text wasn't exactly sharp. I then opened it in iBooks and the text is perfectly sharp (so it can't be that the file I'm using is poor quality). Any thoughts? Goodreader is excellent for annotizing, but if text doesn't render well then I prefer to use iBooks for reading (and keep using Goodreader for work docs).
P.S. I have a 3rd generation iPad (with the Retina screen) so maybe that's why they render better in iBooks... maybe Goodreader has not yet been updated/optimized for the new iPad.
The best solution would be for Apple to create a "rename" option on the device(s). I should be able to rename any file, PDF, video, image.
=)
I tried your suggestion about changing the title of the PDF using the "get info" tag but it still doesn't change when I sync my iPad even though it is changed on my computer. Any other suggestions? My email is. anitaseipel@yahoo.com
Thanks
Delete the PDF from your device and re-sync works for me.
Ok this is what i did using ibooks on my iphone & it worked
Set up the pdf files in list form
Top left of page is edit button: touch it
Now the pdf file names turn from black to blue
Touch the file you want to change
The keyboard will show up
Hit the x to clear old name & type in new
I enjoy apple products until there is a problem because finding a solution from apple is the most annoying irritating procedure ever
hey
i am using an ipod 3g i tried what u said but the name doesnt change frm black to blue and touching on the name opens the pdf itself
Hey, this worked! I wonder if they fixed this in the recent upgrade. Thank goodness, we can now rename our pdfs in iBooks!
Yes! The procedure given by Stinkyme (8 nov 2012) worked very good. Thanks a lot!

i still cant do it is it coz i have an older version of i books ????????
Is this a recent improvement? I have tried on at least a dozen occasions to rename my PDF files. This procedure was always the first thing I tried, but all I was able to do before was delete files or move them around.
I use PDF Converter and it's great for converting PDF to EPUB on Mac OS X. Reading eBooks is fantastic on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and more. My only issue is that the reoccurring free trial without time limitation and that it doesn't always convert the text properly. I'd love to get something that would work better and can make some of my tasks more efficient for work.
I use iBooks for a similar reason and it is possible to edit the names of your files.
1. Open iBooks and go to the folder where all your PDFs are located.
2. Click the "Edit" option.
3. When the app gives you the option to move or delete them, simply click on the title of the PDF and you can edit it there. (Make sure you tap near the end of the title so the application knows you are trying to edit the name.
I hope this helps. I'm not sure if everyone else was looking forth is same answer.

It doesn't work on OS X Mavericks.
