Slow iPhone 3G after iOS 4

Why is my 3G so slow?????????? I updated to 4.0 and my 3G has been having issues ever since. I really cant stand it! the rotation takes like 5 seconds, switching home screens is jumpy, the iPod crashes if you use the purchased link in the iTunes app. Folders open and close slowly, and when I lock it the lock noise plays then it plays like 3 more times. Settings also crashes!!!

is anyone else having these problems? Im really confused. It didn't do this with 3.1. I've also never done anything like jail breaking it....

I've tried restarting but nothing works, any help, Is it time for a 3GS?

agree with you Walk! For the majority of us proud 3G users ios4.0 is running like CRAP! So dont annoy by posting how well it works on yours coz it just winds me up! We pay lots of money for our iPhones so tbh i'd just like a decent software update every once in a while, packed with new features and no bugs... Not packed with bugs and with limited features (soon to probably have support discontinued)

SOUGHT IT OUT APPLE!

well I ended up taking my iPhone back to 3.1... all the OS4 tricks, and suggestions didn't work for my 3G... now that it's back to it's original status and it's running and operating just fine... darn shame Apple.. I won't upgrade to anything OS 4, OS 5 or anything else... we'll be leaving the phone right where it is... This isn't the Apple company that I grew to admire or like... the way you've handled this situation showed customers a very ugly side of your strategy... pump out new models, disassociate models over a year old and "force" customers to buy the newest model with the "latest" greatest innovation... I think you guys have forgotten how you grew that large in the first place...

Actually I did downgrade to 3.1.3... of course it's running fast! but one thing that is driving me crazy!!! is that some apps that have been updated as time pass by during my ios4, and they were updated to be compatible with ios4, and now don't work on 3.1.3. When I mean they don't work, I mean I can't even install them (not even download from app store)! Paid apps in itunes are gathering virtual dust!!! I've googled how to downgrade my apps, but I need the old ipsw files (which of course I don't have because I updated them, and cleaned my macbook so there goes the old files!)

If anyone has any advice that will be great!

I just bought my iPhone 3G in March and loved it. Then did the upgrade and now it is crazy slow. I only had it for a couple of months, I have only downloaded enough to fill 2GB on my phone simply because I didn't want to bog it down and make it slow. Apple really needs to fix the problem or do something to help people upgrade. I am eligible for an upgrade now.... for $300 for the 3GS! I just bought my phone! Had I known that the new OS was going to kill my brand new iPhone, I would have never downloaded it. They didn't let the original iPhones download the new OS, they should have made it so the 3G phones couldn't either. People with the slow phones need to be able to have a voucher to help pay for the upgrade, otherwise I have 19 more months of waiting until my contract is up to get a reasonable price, and that seems like forever with my brand new slow phone. I've restored my phone 3 times, and it doesn't help. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Another user posted this earlier and it worked for me:

Go to settings/general/home button/spotlight search.

Uncheck all items.

Exit.

Press and hold the sleep and home buttons until the phone restarts (Keep holding when you see the power off slider. Wait until you see the apple logo, which indicates it's restarting)

When the iPhone has rebooted, go back to settings/general/home button/spotlight search, and re-check all the items.

"new" ? they're three years old HAHA!

i agree it killed it i mean i noticed that when i updated my iphone 3g ( i remember it like yesterday, it was sooo hot after updating i put it in the fridge cz it hurt my hand ¬_¬ ) sure, if you know a way of going back to iOS3? be my guest but my advice is to upgrade because the iphone 4 is so powerful and has fixed every critic of the 3g ... thats why i got the iphone for .... that and my 3g was falling apart 0.0
