Really annoyed at this I finally get the new os 4.0, go to plug it into my JVC car stereo and the music stops after a few seconds 10 at a max.

Apple you need to sort this out!! And don't try say it's my stereo because it's made to work with iPhone and I spent a lot of money on it so it would work with my iPhone so please fix this issue

Do apple even read these??

I have a JVC stereo in one of our cars and have had no issues with iOS4. Played iPod music as well as Pandora. I don't remember the model number right now but I know it has a JVC car kit installed in the back of the unit.

This happens with nearly every iPhone update. You need to contact your car stereo manufacturer for an update. It is up to them to keep these updated. It may be easier to just buy a new stereo because most stereo manufacturers only guarantee that their units will work with whatever was the current OS at the time of manufacture.

I understand you are trying to help but this is some extremly poor advice. There is no need to go buy a new stereo. It may take time but it will be addressed by Apple.

Using an iPhone 3G (not 3GS) with Alpine IDA-X305. Before the iOS4 update, the album art was all blurry (blocky pixels) but the menu navigation was fine - speedy with no lag.

After installing iOS4, the phone nows pops up a message that "This accessory is not optimized for iPhone" when I connect it to the Alpine. After acknowledging this, the artwork now displays clearly (although with a slight drop shadow) but the menu navigation is so slow as to be unusable. It locks up for 10-15 seconds when trying to scroll through a page of albums, or jump to the next letter in the list.

Apple always comes up with a way to fix their glitches. Your telling me that the millions of cars that came with stock stereos (expensive bose stereos) have to be exchanged all because apple did an upgrade. Doesn't work like that. The solution is simple put the ipod app back the way it was because nothing was changed on it. I've tried every thing possible from restarting my car stereo and running it again to restarting the iphone and running it again, no luck. unless this is one of apples attempt to make you spend countless dollars on their merchandise that's compatible over everyone elses. I have the iphone 4 preordered and if this problem continues i think im about to make a mistake by purchasing it.

I called in for support and according to apple they did it to "protect" the iphone because there might be a wrong pin that can damage the iphone. What a bunch of BS I've used it for a few years with out any issues with different iphone models. Please complain to apple so we can force them to create a fix for this.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 3GS 32gb when used on my Alpine Ida-x100 head unit, most annoying. Tried hard reset but it made no difference.
The issue is that when scrolling it takes over 5 seconds to go between artists on the unit where before it would scroll fast through them all.
The unit has worked with all updates until this one.
I also get the same problem when plugged into the Mercedes ipod unit in the wifes CLK!
Come on Apple you must be able to change what ever script back to what worked with millions of head units and cars.
If it aint broke why fit it huh?
