iOs4 upgrade, Now car stereo doesnt work with iphone

I got in my 2009 Honda Fit this morning, plugged in my iPhone via USB, and got a flashing UNSUPPORTED on the dashboard. Now I can't listen to my podcasts in the morning. Gee, thanks for removing my favorite feature.

Well some good news. My in-car Sony CDX-GT630UI seems to work fine with my iPhone 3GS and iOS4. Tested iPod, NPR news streams, and MotionX GPS.

MotionX even lowers the music volume briefly for voice commands- not sure if it did that before or not.

Mine has issues, too. If I try long enough -plugging and unplugging the USB, stopping and starting the iPod app, etc... it sometimes will work. I have a Panasonic DEH-P4000UB.

I have a Scion xD which has a built in system which connects to either my usb port or the audio jack but the usb port is no longer working after the iOS 4 update.

Are you saying Toyota is responsible for my issues?

I'm not sure how that could be case since this issue developed AFTER the iOS upgrade. Apple needs to fix the audio issue with an audio patch. I can't see myself driving up to Toyota Service and asking them to run a firmware update on my audio system for my iPhone.

Apple please fix the issue!

Since I upgraded to 4.0 last night, my iPhone 3Gs is not working on my JVC KD-HDR50 head unit car stereo. Get error message "Cannot Play". Worked perfectly fine on 3.1.3 and previous firmwares for a year prior to this "upgrade".

Just got the thing for Father's Day specifically for the iPod integration...

No sound, but a slight crackle when trying to play the iPod using "Head Mode", it will still work using the dock connection/USB in "iPod Mode" but then the only thing I can control through the unit is pausing... everything else must be done on the iPod. I am so P.O.ed right now.

same thing with my honda civic '09 car...

iphone 3g with ios4 firmware. it's so slow that it is impossible to select a playlist. And when it's playing, it froze after a moment and flash unsupported !

Similar problem with new Kenwood radio.
Sometimes it "reads" and does not stop.
I can select albums via the radio, but not
the artists any longer. This did not happen before.

Please Apple, take care of that.

Just noticed on thing, scrolling through albums may not be working on the Alpine IDA X-100, but scrolling through all my albums in playlists still does!
From this I can only come to the conclusion that there is a bug in this update.

I am experiencing a similar issue with my 2009 Honda Fit Sport w/ Navigation. My iPhone 3GS w/ iOS 4 will charge, but I get the "This accessory is not supported by iPhone." message with a dismiss button and the navigation screen says "UNSUPPORTED".

FYI: I believe that Alpine is the OEM that makes the navigation head unit and USB inputs for Honda.

I also have a JVC KD-R601 and suffering the same problems. It seems to be a different one each time though. Sometimes the device isn't recognised, sometime it is but the audio wont play or it will for a few seconds and then cut out. Once in a blue moon, it'll work perfectly but not often. Really needs fixing ASAP.

Went to try 'rshwk's method after work got in the car restarted the iPhone before plugging in the music started playing I waited for it to cut out n it never 

Whether or not the music will keep playing the next time I get back in the car I don't know but I'll soon find out

I'll throw my hat in the ring as another poor soul that this "change" has impacted. I am kicking myself for upgrading from 3.1.3. I should have known better. Upgrades do not equal improvements when it comes to Apple.

I have a Clarion CX609 that worked perfectly with my 3GS until I upgraded last night. I got in my car this morning and received the messages on my iphone that it was not compatible with my radio even though it would play music for an instant before shutting down the USB link.

It is staggering how this can slip through -- I've spent thousands of dollars on car stereo equipment and now it simply doesn't work anymore. This is ludicrous -- is there any way to downgrade?
