iOS4 update - now iPhone now reboots during phone call

After about 4 or 5 mins in a phone call my iPhone 3GS reboots itself for no apparent reason. this did not happen before I put the iOS4 update on it. Is the some way I can stop this happening, or revert back to the previous version?

@ledoJ
1. Get file "mobilewatchdog" from 3.1.2 which can be found at
"System/Library/SystemConfiguration/mobilewatchdog.bundle/"

2. On your 4.2.1 iPhone using "iphone explorer"(available for windows/mac) browse to "/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/mobilewatchdog.bundle/" and replace it with "mobilewatchdog" which you got from 3.1.2 (step 1)

reboot

yes the rebooting issue can be reproduced. just keep it on a table lamp or some heat source. make sure the heat applied is to the back of your phone to the middle and is gradually increased. i shall post my logs so it will be self explanatory.

Hey,
I had the exact same issue and I tried everything, no luck, nothing worked on these forums or anything.
In the end I went back to the apple shop and I got another phone on the warranty, this is your best bet. It is a hardware issue and apple (according to the man in the store) currently has no official fix for the issue, if you do not have warranty I'm afraid there is nothing you can do. Good luck anyway.

Had this same problem since i updated.. Everyone related to Apple that i have spoke to has denied the existence of this issue. I even printed out this thread to show the supervisor at the apple store and he pushed it away refusing to read it. My phone is out of warranty but the fact that the update caused the problem means apple should be responsible. Seems to me that this is just a scam to get everyone to buy the iphone 4. Im done with apple. Not going to waste money on electronics that wont work for more than 5 minutes without a cord attached...

Hello all,

After weeks of putting up with this issue I called Apple today. The fella sold me $99 worth of AppleCare first but then asked if I'd restored the phone, which I had back to factory defaults. But then he got me to turn the iPhone off, remove the SIM card, turn it back on, turn it off, replace the SIM and turn it back on. I have since made several calls to mobiles and land lines including one call of 15 minutes and it has not rebooted. Here's hoping it was a simple fix that did the trick!

By the way, as I am still under warranty he said they will that if this doesn't work they will post me out a new one and then I have to post in my old one.

Good luck,

Steve

Dear all,

I update from 3.1.3 to 4.2.1 and I configure my iphone as a NEW one.
I made some phone calls and it never reboots, only for one call after 25 minutes.
After this reboot I made other phone calls, each of them during about 50-55 minutes and the iphone doesn't reboot.
With 4.0-4.0.1-4.0.2-4.1 my iphone reboots after 4-5 minutes during call.

iOS4 update - now iPhone now reboots during phone call
