Did a restore from backup earlier today which had no effect, just done a complete DFU restore and setup the device as a new phone. Will see if this makes any difference.

I upgraded my Belgian Mobistar iPhone 3GS 32 MB from 3.1.3 to iOS4.
Got the same annoying crash when I am calling.
As a business owner I am not happy with this neither are the clients and prospects.
Calling Apple got me nowhere as I need to talk with the phone provider...
Calling Mobistar (and getting a crash every time they put me on hold or transfer me gets me in a vicious loop as I need to explain everything over and over as you get a different person at every call)
If this is the great OS Jobs talked about in his Keynote address... The medication he took for his disease not only made him lose a lot of weight but has affected his mind also...
It would better be called iCrash 4
Let's hope this doesn't take till September as been posted on other forums !!!

just upgraded my 3GS yesterday and got the same reboot during a number of business calls. Did restore it to factory settings and WITHOUT restoring the backup. It didn't happen again since yesterday, hope this has solved it. Anybody else did this and got the same result ?

Has anybody reported this to Apple to be fixed? I think it the most serious problem on the entire apple discussions. I tried to log it with apple this morning before starting this thread, but could not see where on the apple site to submit a support ticket.

Just in hoping this thread gets noticed: I have the same problem of the iPhone rebooting during phone calls. It does only happen after some minutes, but it doesn't happen all the time - I was unable so far to discover a pattern.
This is on a 3GS 32Gb, not jail-broken, flawless upgrade process, no restoring of backups or clean install.
Hope this gets resolved soon because, well, it's a phone after all and if there's one thing you'd want ot rely on...

Out of Interest are these all 32Gb Models, any 16Gb phones doing it?

I have the same problem with a 16GB model. The device reboots after about five minutes during a phone call. I did restore it to factory settings (without restoring the backup) but this didn't solve the problem.

    Cheers, That's another theory gone!

Mine does the same - get about 9mins into a call and the phone reboots.

It's a standard unmodded 3GS 16Gb, flawless installation as a new phone. I have always put the new firmware as a factory install and added everything back on rather than restore from backup, never been an issue before.

I initially put iOS4 on as a new phone, and worked my way through re-syncing everything the hard way. Phone reboots during call.

I did a DFU restore as a new phone, no apps added (thought there may be an issue with one of them on a new OS), only contacts, calendars, podcasts and pics. Still crashes during a call.

Tried to downgrade to 3.1.3 - this errors during verification with Apples' servers - I think error was 3194, which I believe is signing issue.

I'm too late to get onto Applecare tonight, but I will in the morning. Has anyone contacted Applecare re: this issue?

Im having the same problem. No jailbreaking or anything illegal involved. Seems to be a rare problem, but a big one for those affected! Apple, please acknowledge and fix.

Me too, ios4 on a 32gb 3GS. Anyone got through to apple support?

I'm having the same issue with a clean phone. 16GB 3GS. Went to apple store. They were no help. Still have problem. I hope this doesn't happen to new phone I am picking up on Thursday.

My father is having the same problem also. But his phone will reboot not only in calls but just every 5 minutes in general. He is desperate for a fix. Cmon Apple *** did you do!
