iPhone OS 4 car integration

Dear all,
I'm facing a problem since yesterday's update of my iPhone 3G to iOS4.
I can't use it any longer with my car audio since I get the error message "no media found". This is on a new Renault Megane 3 with Arkamys Audio system. A similar problems occurs with Fiat's Blue & Me (also with an iPhone 3GS).
In some cases playback of music starts but crashes after a few seconds, alternatively it's showing the same effects as in the Renault. I found in the web a lot of people complaining about this problem with different audio systems. So, has anyone of you an idea about this problem, respectively an statement of Apple about this?
Regards
Christian

I have a Kenwood KDC-BT40U which also has stopped working and the intructions posted on the Kenwood website about a hard re-boot also made no difference.

If someone gets a Kenwood radio working with their Iphone can you post it so I can give it a go? = Only had the stereo 2 weeks and bought it just because of the Iphone functionality (and yes it worked fine before the OS4 upgrade)

Just to add to this as my problem is now fixed.

I e-mailed Kenwood whom very quickly e-mailed me back so great customer service there.

Basically plug your IPhone ito the unit and do a hard-boot of the Iphone (hold the power button down until nothing is on the screen - don't slide the bar over)

Once it's off then power your IPhone back up. According the Kenwood the unit should then pair, mine initially didn't but when I plugged it back in then it came up fine.

Hi

I too have upgraded my Iphone 3GS to v4 and using Alfa's Blue&Me and showing the same results as below.
Alfa officially say they have tested it and all is well and the service dept hadn't even heard of it.
restarting while plugged in didn't work unfortunatley as I had tried that this morning.
Its defnitely the phone as my Ipd works perfectly.
help anyone?

Hi,

With my Fiat 500c (latest blue&me firmware installed on the car) iPhone 3GS w/ios4 is taking a lot longer to be recognized but works ok for me (but not for all) but iphone4 w/ios 4.0 is not working ( plays for 2 secs and then back to radio).

I'll try the reset general settings on the iPhone and see if it works.
It's still not nice to make a 'standard - works with iphone' compliance program, have car makers and users to pay for it and then break it without notice...

I hope Fiat/Apple will release a fix soon.

2010 Chevy Equinox. Mine worked fine until the iphone OS updated to 4.0. Then it updated to 4.01 and I'd hope the problem would have been addressed. Nope. Come on now really?

If I switch the stereo over to the iphone it plays random songs and I can use the >> to skip to the next one a few times until it just quits. If I try to browse the artists it quits too.

I've been having the same issues since I got my iPhone 4. I've gone through I'm on my 2nd replacement (replacements were for other reasons), and the problem persists. I have a 2009 Toyota RAV4 Limited, and while my problems as far as connecting/staying connected don't really exist, my issue is more with the quality of sound.

With my 3G, people never complained that they couldn't understand me. Now with my iP4, I'm getting a lot of people saying that I sound really garbled, or that I'm cutting in and out.

Seems like I'm joining a rather large queue. My iPhone 3GS with OS4 worked OK (odd problem here and there), connecting to my Alfa 159 via Blue & Me (5.5). Now that I have updated the OS4 to OS4.0.1 regarding the signal bar issues, the music kicks in for approx 3 - 5 seconds then drops out with a hiss and crackling sound.

I can only deduce from this that it is the very recent upgrade to 4.01 that stops it from connecting and not the update to OS4. The trouble is, those people on OS3 will get the whole upgrade to 4.0.1 and therefore have the same problem.

On top of this issue, I also have the problem with the phone turning itself off between longer duration calls.

I'm going to try all the suggestions and see what happens?

Just getting setup with new iphone 4. I have been unable to pair IP4 with volvo(motorola)after-market BT, Like others here I'm also in a lurch w/o HFree tomorrow. Maybe my older BT has outdated firmware??? I don't think so. But..phone paired well with wife's newer volvo that has factory installed BT. Haven't tried to actually call someone thru BT yet on that car. Not hopeful. With all the foot dragging about the antenna, how long will it take for enough anecdotal stories like these to get Apple moving to uncover IOS4 BT problem. Lucky they sent a headset along with the phone.

Hey Guys I know this is very frustrating.
After trying unsuccessfully for 2 days to get My iOs4 Iphone4 to connect (usb) to My Volvo Factory stereo and be able to navigate thru the iPod interface The way my old 3g iPhone did. I was ready to take it back. I decided that maybe I hadn't tried exactly how I'd read a solution on the forum.

So I turned my device off got in my car and plugged it in (car and device both off). Started the ignition which turned on stereo and sent the life blood int the USB aux port. Stereo read connect device while the iPhone booted itself up (not me). After iPhone came on the stereo read loading, then suddenly.....The clouds parted an the music played.
The handshake method was not a farce or something only to work for some other guy. So now i feel like maybe it's ok to have the new iPhone i'm not just some irresponsible fool that has to have any new gizmo that comes from Coopertino..... well maybe I am but, I get to listen to all my music the easy way again. Sweet... try it Power everything off and let it all happen.

So if the iPhone 4 and/or iOS 4 phones can connect to any bluetooth device then bluetooth works on the iPhone.

The fact that the hardware manufacturers of these devices have not updated their software/firmware to work with the iPhone is the issue. Call them and ask when they are updating. Whenever any new phone or software comes out many times these issues arise.

The iPhone has published open standard bluetooth profiles.

the latest iOS 4 firmware; that did not exist with iPhone OS 3.1.3. These glitches could be no audio or intermittent connectivity to the head-units. In
such cases; re-connecting, restarting, or resetting the iPhone (or iPod touch) may resolve the issue."
