Drop calls still with iPhone 4

I just got my new iPhone 4 today and test it out with my old 3GS. I still have drop calls plus my 3GS has more bars than the new iPhone 4. *** can Apple and AT&T fix this problem. They both had 3 years to fix this problem. Does anybody else have this problem.

Yes, Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal talks about it in his review of the phone. He doesn't recommend buying one if you are in a weak signal area, unless you carry a backup phone from another network. User uploaded file

I think Apple should at least let us know "officially" that they plan to address this issue (via software update or whatever). I'm happy if they just own up to it and say that they are actively pursuing a permanent solution.

I'm trying to decide if I should get my money back or not. They had better not string us along long enough to exceed the return policy time frame.

Ok folks. My friend did a test with the 3GS and it's the same thing as the iPhone 4. The problem is not the phone it's the ATT network. It's week and their is so many people on the network with data download that the system can't give out a strong single so your phone drop calls when you put you hand over. It's true for the 3GS and now the iPhone 4

I have an Iphone 4 and have experienced some problems. The argument that the 3gs has the same problems as the Iphone 4 is irrelevant. The Iphone 4 is a brand new, just released phone.

So many manufacturers right now are making great phones that do what phones should do- MAKE and RECEIVE CALLS WITHOUT DROPPING THEM. Should we lower our expecatations just because it's an Apple product? No way.

Be honest Apple, own up to the issue and fix it.

Let's see. Apple sold almost 2 million iPhone 4. My iPhone is not dropping as much calls as before this week. I don't know why. If everybody has the same problem then their would be a up roar. I think it's 1-5% that has this problem. My friend live in NYC and tell me he has not got any drop calls. AT&T HAS COMPLETE UPGRADE THEIR NETWORK SYSTEM IN NYC. Now we have to wait for the rest of the country.

apple's statement of "oh we were just calculating the bars wrong before" just means they don't know how to fix the iphone 4's problems if you ask me. there is a considerable difference in call quality/reception in the iphone 3g when compared to the iphone 4. in 2 years my 3g had maybe half a dozen dropped calls. i've had double that in the week i've owned the iphone 4.

someone mentioned that if you hold the phone a certain way, the dropped bars on signal are more likely. well, even if you buy the bumper case so to avoid actually making skin contact to the outer antenna, the bars still drop.

just for kicks i switched to Edge from 3G to see if that was the problem, but i am still getting "could not activate cellular network" notices very often, and also the same dropped calls issue. i literally never got this "could not activate..." notice with the previous iphone 3g of mine.

i'm considering just switching out the iphone 4 for a 3gs to be honest. i think apple made a dud here, if they can't fix it that is.

No, they DO know why it is happening and they DO know how to fix it. But neither you or Apple want to hear the truth.

The bars have been wrong ALL along? With previous Iphones too? This is what they are saying. Ok why is it that when I have a 3GS and an Iphone 4 next to each other, the bars are so different. ( the 4 being lower). Why are calls being dropped constantly in areas they never have on the 3GS.

I did not get an Iphone 4. I ordered one early on but it wasn't to be shipped until the 14th of July. I begrudgingly cancelled the order yesterday. Only after calling to see if they were correcting the issue on this batch and after seeing and testing a friends next to my 3G and 3GS. They played dumb and tried to sidetrack my questions over and over. So finally I just said thanks but you obviously cant or wont answer my question. I did not cancel right off but kept myself updated daily to see where this was going. After the comparisons at my known locations with my friends Iphone 4, I finally cancelled. I was not getting stuck with the hassle of switching over my 3GS, upping my contract with AT&T , phone not working, then....reversing it all and paying a restocking fee. No thanks.

I would liked to have gotten it but after seeing it in action, I am no longer interested. I have a business and I kinda like to be able to have a reliable phone. My 3GS is working just fine, so until they admit and fix the hardware issue, I will not be getting one. I like everything else about it but THE PHONE PART OF THE PHONE MUST WORK. At least as well as my 3GS.

I like to know what part of the country do you live and what city. As for the phone I have no more problems after I found out my sim card was touching the edge of the plastic tray.

As for you if you bought your iPhone 4 and try it you would know. Their are over 800,000 iPhone 4 sold in the US. 95% have no problems amd say it's better than the 3GS and I can so to. Yes I had I problem before now it's fix. It works better than before and so far no DROP CALLS.

One thing you have to know is that the more people get on the network and get busy you are going to get a drop call no matter what phone or what carrier you have. AT&T have more people with data going on and that alone can make a phone go crazy or tower. Today more and more people are using data on the network which just three years ago nobody but no body was dropping calls. It's going to take time before AT&T catch up with the network to run at full. In Nyc the network is finished and I have Friends their don't get any drop calls.

Before you act you should know what you are taking about. Nobody know why phones drop calls. Get your fact not go see a friend who phone has problems.

Good luck

BTW if you in a week area and hold the 3GS in such a way you are going to have drop a call

Dallas you say. That place is not real good like NYC but it's coming. The more people are on the network Dallas the more drop calls you are going to have. AT&T is working hard on upgrading the network. The problem is that AT&T can't get the equipment fast from the suppliers. That the big problem.

As the iPhone 4 is the best phone around.

As for the sim card problem. Some people report that micro sim card is not seating in the plastic tray
right. If it touch the gold connect then you are going to have problems like drop calls.
