Drop calls still with iPhone 4

I just got my new iPhone 4 today and test it out with my old 3GS. I still have drop calls plus my 3GS has more bars than the new iPhone 4. *** can Apple and AT&T fix this problem. They both had 3 years to fix this problem. Does anybody else have this problem.

iMac 27 i7, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 16G iPhone 4, 32G iPad 3G+WiFi

I'm with you. The bumper helps the death-grip problem, but I had so many dropped calls with my iPhone 4 that Apple replaced it last week. It didn't help. I get 2-3 bar reception at home and at work and yet a third of my calls get dropped. My old 3G worked fine at both locations and others at work who use 3G's don't have this problem so I really don't think it's AT&T. It's the phone.

I've been purchasing Apple products since 1979 and this is the first time I've regretted it.

I agree. There is a call dropping problem that is not being discussed by apple. After the bumper fixed the initial problems, I still dropped 40% more calls than on my 3gs. I returned the 4 and am back with my 3gs and happy. I'm waiting to upgrade the ios for a new release though. Do not buy the iphone 4 yet. It's not ready. Aside from dropped calls, I was told by callers my voice dropped in and out a lot on the 4.

have had the Iphone 4 for 2 weeks and have dropped more calls than my old 3G did in 2 years. spoke to Apple and they did some reprogrmming on the phone. don't think it will help. expecting the bumper case in a week but have a feeling that won't help either. bars do not change no matter where I hold the phone. have 2 more weeks to get a refund on their 30 day refund policy. hope the case works or it goes back and I get a Droid of some type.

As an update to my recent post I purchased an AT&T MicroCell to maximize my reception at home. After setup I reset my iPhone 4, it showed 5 strong bars and almost glowed with reception power. I was so excited. I called my sister and after a few seconds her voice was so garbled I had to call her again. Then after 5 minutes the call dropped.

I have a phone that doesn't work that I can't return, an AT&T contract I can't get out of, and a useless MicroCell. I'm at wits end. I'm thinking of selling my iPhone 4 on eBay and purchasing a used 3G of 3GS. Any suggestions from others on what to do would be most appreciated.

I have until 9/14 to get a refund and buy another phone. problem is my bumper case won't be here until 9/8 which only gives me 6 days to experiment with it and see if it fixes the problem. I have my doubts that it will. may go back to a 3GS or a Samsung. prefer to stay with an Iphone. have another issue- when I call my wife's cell (ATT) each time her voice volume drops off significantly to the point it sounds like she is whispering and then it comes back to full volume. only happens on calls to this other ATT phone. has anyone else had this issue? when the volume falls of it is for about 10 seconds and then returns.
think I am headed for a 3 GS. had a 3G that dropped less calls in 2 years thana the 4 has dropped in 2 weeks. Apple did say they would do whatever was necessary to make me happy including replacing the phone to their credit. they are trying but I think they don't have the answer yet.

I've had my new iPhone 4 for two days. I had the iPhone 3G for two years prior. I never had dropped calls with my 3G. Now I'm constantly getting dropped calls with iPhone 4. I'm in New York City, so coverage is not the problem. I tried to call Applecare, but guess what? It dropped my call three minutes into holding for a representative. If that's not bad enough, the proximity sensor is so messed up that I can hang up on calls accidentally by holding the phone too close to my face. It's going back to the store.

Am I the only one since September 2nd that is dropping calls like flies?

I didn't buy the 3Gs because I was sick of the hype and end up getting a 4.

I'm actually sick to my stomach and feel I've been duped again.

This post heading says this question has been answered. Could anyone perhaps tell me what the answer is?

My answer? Since I bought this 10 days ago I'll be returning it ... maybe a Droid is in my future?

First time iPhone user.
I got rid of my Palm Pre due to occasional alarm issues. Choice . . Blackbery or iPhone? Friends with iPhone 3 and 3G all recommend it, so here I am, new iPhone4 received 1st November. The following morning, the alarm went off an hour late. It transpires that a non-repeated alarm goes on time, but a repeated alarm goes off one hour late!! Stuck in traffic, late for appointment and very annoyed.

I have accommodated that but have found that my iPhone4 has dropped over half of my calls. Grrr

Once I realise that the other party is ignoring me, I find a blank screen and need to await a call back or re-dial.
Is it a signal strength issue?
Am I hanging up with my ear?
Is there a "don't hang-up" button I should press after accepting the call?

I understood this had been resolved! Anybody have a real answer please?

I don't get dropped calls because of signal problems, but I do get dropped calls because of the proximity sensor. Apple changed my phone but it is still happening. I thought that the software upgrade was supposed to have dealt with this problem. But it hasn't! Like you my 3G never had any problems with the proximity sensor.
