I too was having the same "can't connect to iTunes" after downloading iCloud. The problem seemed to be that in order to keep my old MobileMe email, I had actually created a new iTunes store account. When I make purchases sometimes I am prompted for the password to my original account and sometimes for the new one. Very confusing. After a frustrating number of attempts to download apps and getting the can't connect alert, I tried going to settings and changing to the other account (same payment details etc etc) and was prompted to complete my account setup. Hey presto. No more problems. I presumed the prompts were assigned to the correct account but I was mistaken. Hope this helps someone.

Managed to solve this issue on my ipad 2 (ios5),after trying many methods without success..

My issue was not being able to click on the sign in button in iTunes or App Store.

What worked for me was:

- check that you are logged in to your apple Id via Settings>Store

- click on your apple ID and click View Apple ID

- click on Manage Your ITunes Store Alerts and then click on View My Alerts

- that should bring you to your iTunes application with your account logged in.

Hope this works for you too!!

I started working through the solution suggested by Supes29, going to:

Settings => Store => ..... (View Account)

But when I got to "Store," all I got on the right side of the screen was "Automatic Downloads" and ON/OFF switches for automatic downloading of "Apps" and "Books." Both of them were in the "OFF" position. Once I switched them on, the Apps store become accessible and worked fine, and I was able to download an app that I wanted.

I am having the same issue:

When trying to update an app (phiAdelphia inquirer) on my iPads (both 1 and 2) I getthe message

"Cannont connect to the iTunes Store"

Tried everything, including trying to get support from Apple Customer Service (number: 175269796 for my report) but the guy in customer service was very unhelpful so far...gave me the run around to read a gazillion forums and sites...had already done that...but NO help.

Both iPads are runni g ios 5

The guy asked me to snd him a screen shot of the error...and still no help and then hadthe gall to ask me if I needed any further help!!

Why would I write if I did not need help!!!

Hopefully someone ore intelligent can answer the question...why is it not loading? It appears to be either a broken store issue, or the app is somehow corrupted...either way it is an Apple problem...I would be happy if they admitted that it is a problem and they are working on it and do not yet have a solution...

Thanks,

Deepak.

This helped thank you.

My method:

1. Go to any site that will redirect you to the AppStore.

2. Once the AppStore has loaded, click on search and search for an app (I searched for Netflix)

3. The page should load a blank grey page with the words "Did you mean Netflix?", click it.

4. The search page should load and you should be able to use the AppStore unhindered.

That's what I did anyway.

Apple handsomely gave me the run around...each time by responding to my question with NO information and then saying "we hope this resolves the issue"... The vendor of the app I was upgrading, Philadelphia Inquirer, admitted that it was a bug in their app and something to do with Apple's iTunes config and integration with their newsstand feature...which was most likely fixed in the last ios upgrade....and they were working on it...apple knew about this all along but refused to admit this situation since that would make them refund my app subscription...two weeks later the problem was solved...

So, folks, do not waste time restoring etc...these guys know what they are doing...they just do not want to admit their products have transient flaws so revenues generated cannot be refunded...and the monopoly continues...

I am filing a consumer complaint aginst Apple at FTC and BBB. Also talking it up on my social networks...

This is the only way they will get to start learning how to behave...
