I always laugh at these kind of posts, do you really think apples not doing anything at all to resolve the issue? I posted my reply when I was on 4.3.3, and since then, apple has put out 4.3.5, 5.0, 5.0.1, and 5.1. Of which, the former three updates fixed my problem and have never repeated the issue since. Don't get upset at apple for mistakes of the users...

Ok, so I was able to resolve my issue, and speaking with tech support was not beneficial. Something had gone awry and I was then unable to open/load any of my previously downloaded apps. Tech support suggested it was because my wifi was secured with WEP instead of WPA, in which I explained, coming from PC/Android and never owning an Apple product before, that I highly doubt my internet connection was preventing me to open any of my current apps.

Anyhow, I did a factory restore of my iPad through iTunes on my PC (but made a backup first), and added my iPad as a new device instead of syncing it with the old settings that were stored on iTunes. Then, everytime I unplug my device, I must remember to first eject the device from the list in iTunes. I haven't had a single problem since.

Not sure why tech support couldn't properly diagnose what the true problem was. He seemed more concerned with selling me on WPA, and reconfiguring my network settings, as if that was the problem. Psssh.

Did you upgrade to 5.1 before you saw this? I have a hunch that it introduced this problem. Go to upgrade an app, or even just to download a new app, and you get 'cannot connect to iTunes store'. And meanwhile everything with your apple id is completely fine. I spent an hour on the phone with apple last night. Only resolution was a workaround. Use iTunes on your computer to download the latest app versions, and then sync with your computer.

Having had the same frustration since buying the New iPad i may have a solution.

By way of an accidental discovery I suggest you go to your Music player and under the menu you will find the STORE button in the bottom left. When I select this I am taken to the full iTunes service on my new iPad which I could NOT get to via the normal selection.

Go figure !

Hope this helps.

No logic...purely accidental...

Continuing

It gets. Better.

If Movies are not accessible via iTunes go to the MOVIE viewer and select STORE button and I am into iTunes movie selection which I could not get to dirctly.

But if I select another menu item in iTunes I get blocked again until I go back to MUSIC or VIDEO....

But if I put something in search I get a full list of the different media and can make my selection.

Seems the outer layer of software is blocking here somehow.

Cheers

Last time I had solved my problem by changing a securitysetting on my router but that helped just for a little time. Now it just again it don't work. Can't connect to appstore using Wifi. Very frustrating! When I use 3G (mobile network) I don't have a problem. Last weekend I bought a brand new Wifi router (not just for this problem) and hoped maybe that would help but I have still the same problem that it won't connect to the app-store. I can browse in the appstore but I can't download or update any app. As I said, with the mobile network it works well. But there I am restricted in the downloadsize of the apps.

Anyway....I tried all kinds of settings on my wifi router (and I really know my way into networking) and even tried the wifi at somebody else but no success. So I am really convinced of the fact that there's a serious problem with the appstore app and I am not convinced Apple is taking this serious enough considdering all the posts I read here.

I am having the same issue for 2 days now. I followed every possible fix in this thread, and called Apple support and have gotten nothing accomplished. Apple support was stumped. It doesent work on WIFI or LTE. Does work on my Iphone4 on the same wifi network, and on 3g so I know its not a network issue, or an Itunes issue.

I can't even connect via settings/store. No matter what I do, I get the error, "Cannot connect to Itunes Store".

I believe this all started when I installed Itunes U. Then I tried to download some content for it, and thats when I noticed it starting. I have since uninstalled ITunes U, Ibooks, and can't get anything to work. Changed my password with Iforgot. Reset network settings, reset all settings. The only thing I have NOT done, is a restore.
