Ok, so I was able to resolve my issue, and speaking with tech support was not beneficial. Something had gone awry and I was then unable to open/load any of my previously downloaded apps. Tech support suggested it was because my wifi was secured with WEP instead of WPA, in which I explained, coming from PC/Android and never owning an Apple product before, that I highly doubt my internet connection was preventing me to open any of my current apps.
Anyhow, I did a factory restore of my iPad through iTunes on my PC (but made a backup first), and added my iPad as a new device instead of syncing it with the old settings that were stored on iTunes. Then, everytime I unplug my device, I must remember to first eject the device from the list in iTunes. I haven't had a single problem since.
Not sure why tech support couldn't properly diagnose what the true problem was. He seemed more concerned with selling me on WPA, and reconfiguring my network settings, as if that was the problem. Psssh.
