Camera NOT working...HELP?

Unfortunately, I am having the same problem and found out that the front camera is causing the issue of the iphone being stuck on the shutter. Though I have not tried it out yet, through Youtube I learned that the only way to fix the front camera problem is to buy a new front camera piece and install it. So the other day same happens to me..iphone camera shutter frozen...cant take picture, but if I reverse it, I can take a selfie...Go to apple store, the "genius" tells me the camera is shot, need to replace for $60....

all of a sudden, the camera just works !!! Close the app, then try to shoot picture, its frozen again. I figure out if I reverse the camera to self shoot, then reverse again, camera works... its bizarre, now the genius is telling me camera is probably not getting enough current so problem is intermittent ???? still wants $60 to replace.

This iphone 4S mind you is in otherwise pristine condition, its a 4s without a scratch..Had battery issues with it since day 1, apples multiple fixes did nothing, battery still *****...I asked him if they could some how help me out with this besides paying for a brand new camera. Genius says no.. I gotta admit Im somewhat ******...I bought 3 desktop macs, 3 laptops, multiple iphones for me and family, never had any issues, some of these units are quite old...A phone thats less than 2 years is crappimg out on me and they give me a big screw you.... Am wondering if this is the beginning of the end for apple, used to have bulletproof product with exemplary customer service....welcome to the new apple 😟

This happened to me yesterday. I deleted all the apps that had anything to do with the camera, including the flashlight. Then I deleted all my pictures on the camera roll. I is working now, but I don't know why.

I had same issue occur and not only did camera present black screen but I lost flashlight function as well. After searching and trying many suggested "fixes" this is what worked for me. Open camera app to black screen. While black screen/camera app is open, power down your phone. Power it back up. Camera began working again and flashlight application was back as well. Hopefully this fix will work for you. We will see if it lasts.
