zagg invisibleSHIELD question?

Hi,

I bought the zagg invisibleSHIELD for my iPhone 4. Will this hamper the screen visibility with the new retina display?

Thanks, Jerry

Hi Jerry,

There are a couple of videos on YouTube showing the Zagg installed on the iPhone 4. The screen visibilty looks okay to me. I have never had visibility problems with the Zagg on previous iPhones and I really like their products.

It might be worth having a look at the Clear Coat as an alternative:

http://www.clear-coat.com/product.php?productid=1013&cat=0&page=1

Read the guarantee on the product information page:

+We're also the only company to give you a double-guarantee: We guarantee your Clear-Coat will protect your device and stay put, otherwise, we replace it. We also guarantee that our product is the easiest to install, so just in case you make a mistake in installation, we'll give you another Clear-Coat until you get it right.+

Now that sounds pretty good to me! Another benefit (as you can see from the pictures) is that the Clear Coat covers the whole phone, including the infamous antenna, which will potentially help to reduce any signal problems. The Full Body Zagg has some cutaway sections on the side and therefore does not cover the gap between the two antennae.

Just my two pence worth, but i installed the Zagg shield today and i'm not impressed. The whole thing has a lumpy appearance to it, and is far too sticky which does hamper using the touchscreen a little (however i'm hoping over the next few days it gets smoother with use).

It's certainly better than nothing but will purely be a temporary measure for me until i get a Powersupport crystal on it - which on my old 3GS was superb - invisible, hard to scratch and protected the screen.

I installed the zagg yesterday. It has cutouts for both the front and back camera and flash, so it won't affect the camera image quality. It does feel rubbery with more resistance, and has a slightly pebbly, not quite smooth surface when viewed from an angle with the screen asleep. When viewed with the screen on, it looks crystal clear. The installation is a pain, as you have to spray it with this deionized water spray they include to help you position it. IMHO it is not as nice as the Power Support crystal or anti-glare films I have used on my 3G, which need no liquid to install and are hard and smooth. Once power support comes out with their films, I will be buying those. I think I will leave the Zagg film on the back though, because the slightly rubbery texture will help when holding the phone in your hand and should do a good job of protecting it.

I do a Zaggskin for the back, so I can customize it with my own picture, and it has that "Sticky" quality, that most plasticy, self-healing materials have, which helps with grip, and use an anti-glare screen protector on the front. I hate the Zagg shield on the front, because it impedes my ability to slide my finger across the screen smoothly, so is annoying, especially for games.

I just got the zagg last night and installed it. I must say I am not really happy with the product.

1) it feels rubbery

2) if installed on front it eliminates the antiglare that apple had implemented in their glass

3) it has an orange peel effect that you can see at angles. Looks CHEAP!

I did want something that would protect it TODAY! so this was the only product that I could find in town.

I will research more and wait till a product comes out that has the same screen qualities as the original glass and does not have orange peel.

After installing the zagg the phone honestly does not look as sleek

=[

The front Zagg shield for my IP4 started peeling off when I put it in a belt case, so I just took it off and left the back shield.
I like the feel of the screen better with it off and I do think that the display looks better (clearer and sharper).
I left the back shield on to give me a little stickier grip.

Not sure what my answer is going to be for screen protection. I suppose we will see a bunch of accessories soon.

I tried the Invisible Shield, and it looked awful on the screen. So many bubbles and rainbow lines everywhere, plus it gave the screen a weird texture and look. However, I have left the back part on, as I am pleased with the protection and feeling it gives to the back of the phone. I, too, will be putting a PowerSupport on the front of my phone when they become available.

Here's a picture of my iphone with the front and back zagg invisible shield.

The bubbles will go away after a few days and I like rubbery feel because it gives you better grip of the phone and it's very easy to clean. The shield also protects your screen from scratching and dirt.

I found a website that sells them for less.
