Anyone else feel that iOS 4 has made their ipod touch 2G very sluggish? screen rotations are slow(delayed) and iBooks is totally unusable. ibooks crashes often. and how do you lock screen orientation?
Apple doesn’t care about older models. Mr. Jobs wants us all to buy new iPod’s.
I even wonder if there any Apple support people who look at these forums. I don’t think Apple is a company where customer care is highly valued.
I'm in the same boat as erin_tigs. I have a 2G, 8GB now running iOS 4.1 Since upgrading, Calendars take 30 seconds or longer to load. Sometimes they don't load at all, and I'm forced to restart. After they load, Calendars freeze for several more seconds before I can navigate, add or delete events. Additional info: I sync four calendars via MobileMe. Has anyone found a workable solution?
I have the 2G with iOS 4.1 and am experiencing the same battery depletion problem that others describe. However I too, use Calendars daily, and find no change there. It opens instantly. Is it possible that you are running low on memory space? Mine is a 32 GB model with plenty of room left.
I have the same iPod touch model and the very same problem with Calendar. I think it is a matter of OS weight and not only a bug. Did anyone already tried OS 4.2?
Thanks a lot.
I agree with you. I underwent the "trauma" of restoring and trying to go back to OS 3, but the only option was to restore OS 4, and back again with the useless Calendar.
When you enable homescreen walpaper & multitasking using springboard or winterboard, its already drain your memory(RAM) source and CPU usage. iBooks need at least 30 MB of ram to run perfectly, If you already enable all of that tool, your free memory usage will be available 60 MB(RAM) from 128 MB(RAM), if you open iBooks when you are listening to music, i swear your iPod Touch will crash !
Im new to touch having "inherited" from my son on X mas. I reset the device and upgraded to the latest version. I don't have any of the problems you all have. Is this problem solved?
@luislps63 Did it really work for you to rollback your iPod with felixbruns firmware backups? When I tried it did not for me. I got an error, that basically means that Apple server refuses to allow firmware rollback. (I did not have SHSH blobs for my iPod at the time).
Downgrading the 2G Touch back to 3.x is a bit more difficult than just using the felixbruns URL. I successfully took my 2G from 4.2.1 back to 3.1.3, so it CAN be done. Do your research, read everything you can about the process. Now that Apple is abandoning the 2G, it's up to us users to keep our little devices running. I do like some of the newer stuff on 4.x ios, but would rather have my 2G running right.
Instead of trying to address the issue by optimizing the next OS, apple has decided to stop providing software updates altogether for the ipod touch 2nd generation with iOS4.3
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of 3.1.3 that will install on my Ipod Touch 2g??
I have tried everywhere and I can't get a copy to restore back to my itouch.
I upgraded to 4.1, and battery does not even last 5 hours and used to last a week! I purchased this upgrade a long time ago, but lost my computer and the file and I can no longer get it in itunes. Apple store was of no help. Does anyone have it or know where I can get it? Thanks so much in advance.
I waged a loosing battle with Apple on this and eventually the representative hinted me that I am on my own fixing the iOS4 sluggishness problem with rolling back to a free firmware.
Check out "s i n f u l iphone". It worked for me without the SuSHi (not really spelled that way).
Sorry dude but Apple want your money, and that is your other solution: send your iPod to the landfill and buy new model.
