iPhone 4 in endless reboot

I received my iPhone 4 yesterday and promptly plugged it into my computer to activate it via iTunes. Unfortunately my battery was completely drained so I had to wait for it to charge a bit before I could activate it. Once activated I did a restore to put all of my things on the new phone and used it the remainder of the evening.

Much to my dismay I woke up this morning, turned it on and saw the activation screen telling me to plug it into iTunes. I turned the phone off and then back on and now the phone is in a dreaded reboot sequence. The Apple logo appears for about ten seconds, disappears for about five seconds and starts the whole process over and over again. I've tried holding down the power button, holding down the power and home buttons, etc. all in multiple variations and number of sequences but I can't get out of the reboot nightmare.

I'm going with my wife to get her iPhone reserved at the Apple store a little later today so I guess I'll have them take a look at it while I'm there.

Any ideas that I should try first or is my unit DOA? Also, do you think the Apple store will have an iPhone to replace my defective unit with if they can't get mine working again?

^I don't think you understand what I mean by constant. The battery meter never shows so you would never know the percentage. It doesn't happen every 5 minutes. The phone never actually boots up, it remains in a constant reboot while in the phone's boot procedure.

i set up an appointment at the Apple store and after trying to make it work for 30min they gave me a new one...

The problem is that our friend m. Jobs doesn't want to open an apple store here in Brazil. He said that we pay so many taxes that it's impossible to sell his products here. I can't change my iphone for another one. I'm trying to find a solution for this issue, but I think there isn't anyone.

my new iphone 4 is doing this exact same thing. never turned on. plug it into the computer and it reboots repeatedly. i can get itunes to recognize it by holding down both buttons, but when i tried to restore, I got an error. was there any fix or do i have to get a new one? i just got the **** thing today!

Mine has now done the same, Had it about a month now with no issues, Left it on charge overnight with the alarm set, woke up late with a dead phone

I can plug it into the charger and i get the emergency screen which lasts about 2 mins before restarting back to the same screen

Plug it into the computer, doesn't even get past the apple logo, just keeps rebooting.

Done DFU and tried installing 4.0.1 no joy get error code 1611

Sending it back to apple for hopefully a replacement, fingers crossed so very annoyed as I love the phone!
