Domain Forwarding / GoDaddy / Safari Blank Page

Hi all -

Sometime over the last week my forwarded domain started loading as a blank page. I contacted my hosting company, GoDaddy, and at first they denied the problem - then they acknoledged it and wanted a traceroute - and finally they said it was a problem with Safari and to try a different browser/computer.

I loaded up Firefox and sure enough, it loaded just fine.

Now, after Firefox, Safari is loading the forwarded address again.

I can't be the only person this is happening to - does anyone know what occured and what the permanent fix is?

I don't recall any updates around in the last week that may have caused this...

BTW: Emptying the Safari cache didn't make any difference. Only loading the page in Firefox first did it.

You're right Safari problem not fixed as it returned this morning. Here is a note a received this morning in another forum:

I think this is your problem:
code:
comp:~ user$ curl -I http://eastcoastyachtclub.net/
HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily
Content-Length: 0
Location: /?ABCDEFGH
comp:~ user$

Look at the location that it provides. That's not a location. The server is spewing out garbage. I would find another registrar.

I tried to retrieve the code from the blank page but could not duplicate what the sender sent me.

Thank GOD I'm not going crazy...i too started having this problem about a week and a half ago...contacted godaddy...they gave me some spill about how it was my ISP fault...but that didnt make sense b/c friends of mine got the site in their browsers but not when i tested it in my own (safari)...

APPLE....HELPP!!!! This is crazy...whats the point in spending more than 100+ for a website only to have it open up as a blank page??!!!!

No - the problem isn't fixed.

I'm still getting emails from people who can't load my page. I have to tell them to launch Firefox first and then go back in to Safari for it to work.

There was a person earlier in this thread that had the problem re-occur on the same computer after the Firefox fix. If we can figure out how to duplicate the problem then we can figure out what is causing it (since there doesn't seem to be much of a response from the powers that be).

Well, mine has been working since about 2PM today. I have not launched another browser in about 3 days, so it is not working for me because I launched another browser (because I have not).

As far as what is wrong... It has already been determined. GoDaddy has already stated that it is a problem with one of the vendors they use for their service and that they were working on a fix. They made that statement about 2 days ago.

Anyhow, it is working for me so I don't know why you are getting emails from people saying it isn't working. I have not done anything different on my end to make it start working.
