iPhone 4 TV Out

Unless i am doing something wrong, which i very much doubt i am not able to get my iPhone 4 to display video's out on my TV.

I am using the Apple (Genuine) Component Cable, LG TV and iPhone 4.

I have downloaded the WWDC2010 iTunes U keynote speech and available sessions.
I have started to play with the component cable plugged in, ensured that the settings allow for Widescreen and PAL output.

There is a Very Faint audio but no video.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same issues as some others. I bought Apple's AVcomposite cable. Tried it with my old color iPod. Went to find TV out, turned it on & it worked perfectly. Tried the same cable with my iPhone 4 and nothing. No TV out setting shows up in Settings>General. Tried my wife's iPhone 4 & the same thing. No signal or TV out setting. The cable works. The iPhone doesn't? What else should I try except a visit to an igenius?

First of all...FORGET ABOUT setting you IPOD to Settings/TV OUT. You don't need to do all this crap.

1. Connect the cable you bought to the TV. (connect the red, white, yellow)

2. Connect the other end to your IPOD BEFORE you play a video

3. YOu are done. The ipod NOW knows that the video is GOING to the TV.

4. Using your ipod you can now: watch YouTube, watch your video playlist, or watch a movie you downloaded.

The KEY is you HAVE to connect the cable (that you purchased) TO YOUR IPOD BEFORE you have the YouTube video playing on the ipod.

I looked all over the net and not ONE person mentioned this. I figured it out on my own. What a bunch of hogwash you find on these message boards. A whole ton of crap you read through and it comes down to something very simple.

Same here: iPhone 4S-32GB-iOS6.

Since recently, I do not see the TV out option in the settings anymore. Airplay with Apple TV2 works flawlessly, but when traveling, I do not take ATV2 along, and ATV2 has "only" HDMI output, which is not available on old TVs.

Therefore, I like to use my good-old Belkin composite cable, which used to work for years on my old ipod, but it does not work anymore on the iphone 4S... only audio, but no video.

I tried the plugging-in and the starting-apps in different order as suggested, but no success.

Is there a fix in sight or is there a 3rd party app?

BTW, According to this support info, there should not be any issue.

Sorry, mixing things up here... Can I delete my old posts?

There are analog and digital AV adapters from Apple and others.

The analog adapter uses the composite output to the TV, the digital one uses HDMI. The link I gave above is for the digital av adapter.

There are a lot of mixed reports on what works and what doesn't. See for example this link on the apple store page for the composite av adapter. Apparently, on some devices running iOS6, there are issues.

My old Belkin ipod av adapter cable uses the audio/video jack connector, which still works on my very old ipod, but not on the iphone 4S, where I would need to get through the 30-pin connector. I do not have this adapter, so I can't tell.

I hope this clarifies things.

This did the trick for me... Iphone 4, IOS6.0.1 with Rocketfish iPod Component AV Cable -I got sound, but no video. I tried everything, researched for a number of hours on many forums and it seemed hopeless. From what i gathered, Apple had taken the NTSC/PAL option out of the settings. I never thought to plug the darn thing in before starting the app.

Fyi-my main reasoning behind the purchase of the cable was for netflix, i wanted it on a big screen, just watched an episode of a show on my 50" tv (which is an older Sanyo). Quality was pixeled a bit at first, but it cleared up within a minute or two...

YouTube, however, is not working for me, but I'm not as concerned with it as much as I was the Netflix. I will be trying other apps as well in the coming days.
