iPhone 4 and UConnect

Has anyone tried to get their iPhone 4 to pair with a UConnect hands-free system? I've tried to pair the phone but it won't pair. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

I just installed RER_2.302 on my 2010 Chrysler 300C uconnect system . My iPhone 4 with 4.2.1 software worked fine until I turned the car off. When I restarted car, phone had problems making calls. I downgraded back to RER_1.295 and phone worked fine, just as it did before I upgraded. I guess we have to wait for RER_2.400 before we can have Apple's latest software work with uconnect's latest software. I am not happy with either Apple or Chrysler. Neither company seems anxious to solve the iPhone uconnect bluetooth connectivity problem.

I have an iPhone 4 on 4.2 with a 2011 dodge nitro with the Media Center 130 (RES) non-navi, like bottom stereo for the line. It has BT, Satellite Radio, etc. I am able to stream music without a problem and here's how i did it:

With phone already having Bluetooth ON AND PHONE SCREEN LOCKED:

1). Start Car -
2). Uconnect say "Bluetooth Audio"
3). Stream will play.
4). Can use uconnect to say "Next track" and will play the next song.

Here is how i was able to get choppy, chipmunk sounds:

Do same as above and:

Turn screen on. Music will instantly go chipmunkyish, if you lock the screen, it will return to normal. So if your browsing for a new song to play once you find it and click on it, lock the screen, it will go back to normal. I hope to have a video of this soon.

More bad news on iPhone 4 compatibility problem with Chrysler MyGig bluetooth system reported on MyGig forum:

I was planning to go to Harmon Becker Wednesday to get the new update installed, as I've been there before for service on my RER. According to Steve Montealegre, Director of Product Development Engineering, the iPhone 4 issues is not resolved in this update. See our email communication below:

He asked me when I wanted to come in.....

Let's plan for Wednesday at 11:30am. Can just bring the radio in (vehicle's in storage)? I just wanted to confirm that this update resolves the issue with the iphone 4 compatibility? Is this the correct change log for 2.400 below? I found this online, but not sure if it's correct. Do you have the complete change log update for the new update? Thank you once again for your support and service!

Change log (partial) for update v2.400 RER/REW/REP (to be released January 2011):
Bug fixes:
iPhone4 compatibility issues
Intermittent no sound from audio system when using remote start
Radio lock up when using U-Connect

He replied:
Ah, different question. iPhone 4 is NOT compatible and we do not have a fix.

Remote start is a timing issue

Acquiring SAT signal is a software timing issue and we have a fix.

I can update a radio, I cannot promise to have all your bugs fixed. For that you have to complain to Chrysler and they should fund us to fix some of these problems.

---it looks like it's on Chrysler to step up and give HB what they need to update things the right way.

Hi! I'm having the same trouble you had with the iPhone 4 and using uconnect in my Chrysler Van. Did you know of any way to connect...I see that your posting was in 2010 and today is May 10, 2011. Have they solved the problem???? I love the iPhone 4 too...but I really need to have my phone connect to the device. Thanks for any help you can give me. Janet

I have a 2010 Dodge Ram. I recently replaced my old iphone with the new iphone 4. The old one synched fine and I could use hands free without problem. It wouldn't do much with playing music unless I plugged it into the sound system and even then no hands free functionality. I'm told that UConnect rarely updates and to not hold much hope that I'll be able to sync and use hands free as they rarely update when it comes to iphones. I've read though that some people are synching alright but it's not always clear whether they're using the old iphone or the new 4.

The dealership was quite clear UConnect won't synch with iphone 4 and I was shown the paperwork to support it and as I said they said don't hold our breath. They did say there was one radio system sold with the truck that would partially sync some features.

I'd like some input from others to be sure I have the facts correct. If they are I think it is unreasonable for UConnect to not have this as a priority let alone leave this unaddressed and I consider it unaddressed if they aren't offering a date as to when the issues will be resolved. If this turns out to be the case I am considering starting a face book page tentatively titled 'U-NotConnect' for people left without handsfree access to their phones to voice their dissatisfaction in hope of drawing UConnect's attention. Corporations once had the luxury of ignoring problems but with social media, once in a while it gives individuals one giant shouting head that a corporation may choose not to ignore. I've had a chat with a dealership about this and they said they would support such a drive and spread the word amongst their colleagues.

I have an iPhone 4 running version 4.3.2 and have the problem that the connection does not stay once the car has been turned off. As a simple fix particularly for active users, I have found that if you turn off the Blue Tooth in the iPhone and turn it back on the connection is made reliably. This is a nuisance if you only get the odd call but may help if you use the Uconnect a lot.

I just bought an iphone 4 Sat., June 11. I can not pair it with uconnect. I stopped by the service department and the guy behind the desk was less than helpful. I have to make an appointment for the Dodge service department to see if they can do anything. I previously paired another brand of phone to unconnect so I know the uconnect is not broken. If anyone can offer a solution, I would appreciate it.

I just got my u connect working with my I phone 4. You have to go to the dealer and have the "new" 2.402 installed in your radio. This is a brand new update. You will then be able to use all the features on your my gig radio and your I phone 4. Just one note make sure you enter the names correctly on your I phone, i.e. no symbols or using the name: home or work or mobile. Just enter the number and select what number it is on your phone. I did have some address wrong and the u connect would not recognise them. This vehicle is over a year old and I just got it to work. The other note is the latest update on your I Phone will work. The 4.3.3. Even though Chrysler says it won't it will. I had to talk with an engineer at Chrysler to get all the correct information. Good Luck.

Have you installed you new CD with updates for your jeep.

My iphone 4 and iphone 4s syncs with my UConnect on my 2011 Jeep Grande Cherokee just fine everything works accept when I installed the latest ios 5 software my contacts will not sync with my uconnect.

I paired a friends iphone 4S with my car and his contacts sync just fine.

I think that it may be a wrong setting on my phone.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

First make sure you have the lates software cd update for you Jeep.

Press the system set up and choose pair phone. The instructions are quite clear. It will walk you through the steps and ask you to start pairing proceedure on your phone.

Go to general, blue tooth and hit the section where it is looking for you uconnect, then enter the code you have given the uconnect and it should pair.

If that doesn't work, make sure you delete all phones on the jees and tell your phone to forget this device and start over. If that doesn't work it may be your phone and you may need to take it to an Apple Store and have them check it out with you in your car with another new phone.

Hope this hellps
