Signal issues? You're holding the phone wrong.

In case the Apple support forums are your first stop on your search for why your signal is dropping when you hold your phone, Steve Jobs and Apple consider it a "non issue" and to "avoid holding in that way".

"Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases."

If you have the reception problem it looks like Apple is doing what they should be doing - finding a fix.

I just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support. I called and was transferred to a senior specialst who tried some troubleshooting, none of which alleviated my problem, and then gave me a case number for my reception issue. He told me that Apple engineers were working hard on a fix and that he would personally call me back when it is decided upon. He said it would most like be a software update but he couldn't be 100% sure.

Be patient, there are bugs with all new tech toys. Apple did not tell me to "just deal with it" or hold the phone a different way, they said they would handle it and find a solution. It's only day 2 guys.

If you have this issue I would call Apple and get it officially on the record so you can get a resolution when it becomes available.

Cheers!

I have tried replicating this problem time and time again. I have NEVER been able to get it to drop bars. Not once. I do not think it is a problem with all phones. I have a coiple friends who have not had the problem either. I am not sure what the discrepancy could be but again I have no problems with any reception even when trying to bridge both "gaps" What gives?
