Bluetooth Problems

Hey people,
I am having problems with my new iphone 4 bluetooth.
When i go into the setings and turn bluetooth on it just says Searching and has the "working" symbol, it never finds anything and yes i do have my bluetooth on other phone on.
Also the symbol for bluetooth never turns blue,(next to battery symbol).

It looks to me like the bluetooth is not turning on at all ?

Anyone else having this problem, can people check there's and report what you think.

Thanks

iphone 4, iOS 4

You're welcome to return it if you want, but what you are describing is expected behavior, not a bug. When you go to set/gen/Bluetooth, it automatically detects items in pairing mode that are supported by the iPhone. If your not seeing devices listed, none are found or none that are found are supported, or you have a hardware issue. Try resetting network settings, but usually devices not in pairing mode are the blame. As for transferring items device to device, it is possible with 3rd party software, but apple doesn't provide that out of the box.

Thank you for you reply, but I have tried your solution many many many many times before I even posted here. When Bluetooth is switched on it continues searching..... wait for it......... for several hours without even declaring that no devices found. Definitely a problem here with the Bluetooth. The other problem I've got and Apple whom I contacted via telephone cannot fathom out is why the phone switches off several times a day and the only way to restart it is by pressing the power and home button together to restart the phone. If you look at these forums there are many issues with the new os.

I concur. Audio quality *****.
I am having similar issues. IP4, connected to a 2009 Toyota Bluetooth system. Worked flawlessly with my 3G.

I have erased all settings, rebooted phone, tried every way of pairing. Phone is always in a plastic holder 3 inches from stero or in cup holder. Result, static for the other end. No one can hear me and my calls get s garbeled and fade in and out. I hear just fine.

My 1G and 3G all work great, but not the iPhone 4.

I have not yet contacted Apple. I keep hoping I will find a solution on these boards.

Bingo! I can't believe that after hours of frustration and searching, and all the things I tried to make this work, it was just what you mention here: I had to touch the words "not paired" to make it pair. This seems ridiculous, since it did not appear as a button or anything, but whatever... it worked, and I can go to bed now. Thanks for this suggestion.

(As many have said, you do of course need to get the headset into pairing mode. I had used this Jawbone Icon previously with my 3GS, and had no problems when I updated that to iOS4. The problem came just today with my new iPhone 4.)

I had an iPhone 3G and had it connected to my car's bluetooth with no problems. Ever since I did the software update, it stopped working. I thought it might be my car, so I tried pairing my phone to my husband's car and to a loaner car I had for the day and my iPhone would not pair with any vehicle. I just got my iPhone 4 and tried to pair it to my car (and my husnband's) and it also did not work. Is there a problem with the new iPhone software that messed up the bluetooth?

I can go through all the steps to pair and my phone recognizes the HandsFree Link and tries to pair, but it times out and says no devices found. I have tried this several times, tried rebooting the phone and the car.

Please help. I really need the bluetooth in the car to work! My car is a 2009 (Acura RDX) with bluetooth installed in the car, it is not an aftermarket device. My husband's car is a 2005 (Acura TL) with bluetooth installed as well. Neither work with the new iPhone software!

My iPhone paired instantly to my plantronics voyager pro, but the quality *****. I hear tons of popping and cracking on my end, and if i so much as turn my head away from the phone, people on the other end can no longer hear me. The connection is weaker than crap.

I'm just really hoping that it is a software issue that will be fixed quickly - i'd hate to have to return my phone because otherwise it is great.

I am having the same problems too. I upgraded the day OS 4.0 came out. I have a 08 Nissan Altima with factory blue tooth. had no problem connecting before update. Now if it does connect if a call is received on the Iphone 3gS the displayed number does not appear. It would appear before update and would also display number even if not in my contacts. Now I do not even get a telephone ring unless it is my phone itself ringing or if i do a hard reset. Then phone displays numbers until i turn off the engine. I went to genius bar today and they told me to delete paired device and re sync. Still no phone number display. Come on Apple I paid extra for this hands free feature.

I have had my iphone 4 for a week and although it pairs with other devices, asks for pin codes and states it is now discoverable it will not connect even with the devices sat next to each other. The really annoying thing is that my partner has a £50 handset that connects to any bluetooth enabled device
😟. I was going to take the phone back but after reading these posts and posts on other forums it looks like a software glitch.
