Hi everyone.

I`m having this problem long time ago, aswell. Im ****** of with the iphone. But i have realized that the problem comes when we restore a backup coming from an iphone 3g.

I will try to restore it like new and then send all my numbers trough whatsapp to see if it was problem of the restore.

I will do it this weekend and then make the test.

I will answer soon.

The same problem is here.

I'm just ****** off. I'm ****** so much, that my evil thoughts will burn a hole in my iPhone 4. Jesus, I have done so much, and still can't rid of this problem in 4 month period. I will charge Apple for my bad days, and not answered calls. I will demand to give my hard earned money - back! I'll buy another phone, what capable to work properly as a phone! People, never buy iPhone for business purposes, I really very, very disappointed. And worst of all, I can't answer the calls 3-5 times a day! I'm so furious about it, I hate that day when I bought this phone, because it is working fine as a PDA, but as a phone it is real piece of ..... you know, never mind. I'll buy iPod touch, and another producer phone, because I can't take it anymore. I just do not understand, how thing costing 800$ can't do basic purposes. I have bought recently Samsung Galaxy mini just to try Android system, and people I'm speechless how well it build and how easy I could customize it. And as a phone it works without a glitch! Now I really know what I want to replace my iPhone 4!

My experience so far:

iphone 4, purchased from Optus 4 weeks ago.

Second day, at work, 1 call i could not answer, slide would not move, from there on it was app 3 calls a day i couldn't answer. Checked the forums & found it to be a common complaint.

Rang apple care, booked in that weekend for "tech" to have a look at phone at Apple store. Inbetween i was asked to do a restore, install latest firmware, remove screen guard, etc, etc all to no avail.

Took to Apple store, said they'd never heard of this problem, but replaced phone anyway. I was happy, thinking problem solved, and to play it safe, i did not re-intsall apps etc, wanted to use it as a "clean" phone, just in case.

Day 1 of new replacement phone at work, guess what, 2 calls i could not answser. Rang back Apple support, they rebooked me in again to look at new phone. On the average i get app 12 calls a day at work, of which 3 i can't answer.

Went back to Apple store on weekend, and this time was serverd by a "tech" that "knew all about this problem, she's had it happen to hers"

She told me it was not the phone, but the carrier, at fault. When the new phone & sim card are initilalised with the carrier, you get a "ticket" as she put it, in their system, you could be down the bottom end of the scale, which is poor service/reception, or if lucky, midrange or higher where you won't get this problem, nothing to do with the actuall reception bars you get on your phone.

I was skeptical to say the least, BUT she did sound convincing. She suggested i contact my carrier (Optus), then go to the ombudsman, and have my contract nulled, and go with another carrier, eg: Telstra.

I asked if replacing the sim, and re-initialize the phone in the carriers system would work, she said possibly if you are lucky.

I went to Optus shop, they gave me a new sim which i activated, then done a carrier reset on phone, updated to 4.3.4, and finally a hard reset.

1st day of use, 10 calls, none missed.

Second day, 3 calls i could not swipe to answer, ask me if i'm ****ed.

Having said all that, i know 3 other people at my work, Iphone 4, with Telstra, and same problem, so its NOT a carrier problem i believe.

One of them uses a BT headset, to alleviate this problem, so to me it means the call IS comming through, and thus MUST be a hardware/software fault in the PHONE not being able to slide the screen.

I don't know where to go from here, except ring Apple back again, and get bounced around.

My other thoughts were to go to A Current Affairs, and see just how many others have this problem once it's aired.

I have this problem on my 3GS( upgraded to iOS4) and iPhone4, now about 10% of my call can't answer.

Tried many many times of hardreset, still happened again after the phone used for few hours.

Also tried Restore functions from iTunes, and uninstalled almost all my Apps, no luck.

I have used many Windows Mobile phones for 5 years before switched to iphone,

the WM phones also have this problem. It is a memory problem, the phone OS didn't free up

enough RAM for starting a new process or function. I installed a memory status App to my

iphone4 and checked the memory status every time I can't answer a call, found out the free RAM

was less then 20M. The phone OS should keep enough free RAM for new process by

closing less accessed process.

Dear Friends,

I have been 2 weeks compiling information about this issue and i have found the solution.

Is take a bit of time , but i havent had any more problems since this. ( 5 days 100% of calls received )

The problem is an incompatibility with the iphone 3gs - iphone 4 in the information of the contacts.

The solution is to restore the iphone like a new phone and put the numbers one by one. Dont use nothing of the security copy. I know it takes long , but is the only solution i have done which has works 100%.

And it will take 3 or 4 hours if you have 400 contacts like me....

It works 100% try it and you will finnish with all this sh... problems!!!

I have an iphone 4 ..which seems to have the same problem of getting stuck up while answering an incoming call! and yes I did backup my contacts from a sync list of my old i phone...(that one was definitely better).. Is the contacts back up actually giving the problem.Shall i re-sync it or restore to factory conditions and then manually enter contacts.. ??

The reason why is that the iPhone software has a bug that causes this.

The Genius bar restored my phone from their software - I have the latest updates - the tech at the Genius bar assured me, APPLE DOES NOT EVEN READ THESE THREADS -

It's just a messed up thing about the iPhone - so get used to it.

Presently, I have a bluetooth headset that always answers connected to my iPhone 4 so it is not an issue anymore.

I still love Apple!
