Text Message Send Sound...

If you are technically inclined, this link my offer a resolution. This person recommends replacing the current sound file with another sound file that has no sound. Check it out:

i synced my iphone 3g with itunes and i rebooted it. still don't have the whoop sound back. i'm running on a jailbroken 4.1

I have also got that horrible "woosh" noise since upgrading my software.

Means I can't send a text message with everybody in my vicinity knowing about it. Hugely annoying.

Tried MMS on and off but no luck

Does anybody know the non-technical answer?

Surely there must be an easy solution.

The only solution is the put the phone on silent. Other than that it appears that the swoosh sound can no longer be turned off.

apple needs to adress this matter. i hate the whoop sound when messages send. #1 its annoying to me #2 its annoying to everyone standing silently in my area. putting the phone on silent does not make this better its only a bandaid. i paid $600 for a phone and i want control over it

I am ready to throw my phone at the wall I am so frustrated by the annoying whooshing sound it emits after I send a text message. Upon calling Apple Tech Support I learned that there is no control setting to fix or alter the sound made once a text is sent.
I want to individually control what happens when I receive a call, receive a text, and send a text. I have no idea why they are all interconnected. This is a basic phone necessity that has been completely overlooked by Apple.
Those of you who have this same problem I encourage you to post about it so the problem is addressed in the next update. For a short term fix just set the phone to vibrate, you lose the ability to hear calls, but gain sanity that would otherwise be lost putting up with the whoosh sound.

I HATE the "whomp" sound when I send a messAge and I can't get it to turn off. THIS *****!

It's simply amazing what people find the time to complain about. I, like yourself, appreciate knowing my text was sent and whoosh is kind of reassuring and certainly, at least to me, not intrusive at all.

If there's something to complain about, they will complain. It's too hold, then too cold, etc.

This whole thread makes me think of the thread that's circulating in regards to the new text tones being shortened in response to everyone complaining about them being too long. And no one's happy with that.

I know.....I could care less how many seconds my text tone sounds. I've written in that thread as well. My office is happy my text tone is shorter, so not everyone is upset! 🙂

I would be interested to know why Apple DID allow you to have control over your phone and make it silent and now they DON'T allow you to have control over your phone and make it silent.

You never had the control to disable this sound, through the settings.
However, you do still have control to turn it off. It's called the volume control or silent switch.

there should be an option in the settings, Apple should fix it in new release. thats the only solution.

The ability to silently and quickly send a text message is useful in a business meeting as well as for those whose only worry is that their mom might hear them texting after bedtime. Apple gets better because it listens to its customers. I doubt seriously that the corporate heads think of it as whining as much as a "good idea". If this board is monitored regularly or if a substantial number of us have contacted Apple directly, I expect they will fix this issue soon.
