iPhone 4/iOS 4 bluetooth muffled on other end

I don't know if it's the phone or the OS, but my headset worked fine with my iPhone 2g. On my new iPhone 4, every bluetooth headset I use connects fine and I can hear the caller perfect. Except, they say it sounds like there's a pillow over my mouth when I talk. To the point of not even recognizing what I say. I tried calling the house, and I can barely hear myself, and it will cut in and out. Anyone else getting this issue?

I know we are all here because we are having the same issue with the Bluetooth headsets being muffled on the other end. I wonder if there is anyone that is NOT having bluetooth issues. I have asked everyone I know and they are in the same boat I am in. Has anyone here talked to or know someone who is not having BT headset issues with the iPhone 4? It seems to me that this is a much bigger issue than the antenna reception issue which I personally have never had. If that is the case then, why is the media and the forums not all over this problem? This is the only issue I am having with my iPhone 4 and getting it resolved would make it perfect.

You're right, every iPhone 4 has the BT issue and also all the 3GS phones upgraded to iOS 4 have this issue. So, there should be over 3 mil phones affected.
The reason Apple did not talk about it is BT issue is BT is not in every newspaper, as antenna is.
So, after all, is Apple really thinking about its customers or it's just PR?

Also remember most of the BT users are corporates and business...!

Add me to the chorus of folks having a problem with the new iOS4 upgrade and my bluetooth headsets. All of my headsets have intermittent drops of audio. Apple products use to be very reliable but I'm beginning to believe that I cannot rely on Apple to produce a product that is dependable. The intermittent problem happens with my Motorola S305 headset and my Plantronics Backbeat 906. They both drop signal intermittently even when they are within inches of the iPhone. This bullsh;t has got to stop or I'm giving up on Apple for good.

iT'S ALL UNACCEPTABLE. We pay big bucks for the best, make it the best -- it's not right now. It's a physical/firmware issue, hope it's fixed with an update!

My experiences(for the record):

Callers complain of muffled sound and can't understand me, often but intermediate; bluetooth connection drops in 5' to 10' proximity or less, intermediate; calls drop often, often during a call there is an interrupting sound as if the connection drops with a strong initial static sound, then fading back to the phone call -- experiencing that frequently.

When someone sues because of wrongful death, that will wake them up. If 911 can't hear a call..., yall fill in the blanks!

Just for the record. Went to Apple last week, got my iPhone 4 replaced ( BTW: true to form, no issue at the store, they were great, replaced my phone in under 5 minutes since I could replicate but never admitted of hearing this problem). Anyway, tested new phone in store (iPhone 4 32G with Motorola H720) and had 40+ feet range again and wife said sound quality was awesome. Then after only one week, back to muffled sound quality for people on the other end and range issues of only about 3 feet at times. In other word, don't bother unless you want to make a point to Apple, new iPhone 4 did not fix the issue nor does 4.0.1 update. I hope Apple fixes this soon. Considering going back to my 3GS which still has 3.1.3 until they get it fixed. Bluetooth is a must for me and the law in CA when driving. You would think with forum hits of over 73,000 Apple might say something.

Is this issue possibly related to production lots? I have tried two phones with a model number of MC318LL and they both have the BT muffled problem. I have used a MC608LL phone for a week now with never any issue. Go to Settings/General/About/Model to check this number. It's funny because this number is referred to as "Model" in the phones GUI but it is listed under "Part Number" on the phones outside box label. It would interesting for folks with and without the problem to check and feedback thier respective numbers... There are phones out there that work...
