iPhone 4/iOS 4 bluetooth muffled on other end

I don't know if it's the phone or the OS, but my headset worked fine with my iPhone 2g. On my new iPhone 4, every bluetooth headset I use connects fine and I can hear the caller perfect. Except, they say it sounds like there's a pillow over my mouth when I talk. To the point of not even recognizing what I say. I tried calling the house, and I can barely hear myself, and it will cut in and out. Anyone else getting this issue?

Still having the bluetooth issues with iOS4. But since I'm also having the proximity issues too, it makes my iPhone 4 almost impossible to use as a phone.

So both of our iPhone 4's are being sent back to AT&T tomorrow. I downgraded my 3G back to 3.1.3 last night. And of course, the bluetooth works perfectly. I hate that I'm gonna be missing all the cool new feature, but at least I can actually make phone calls.

I just hope they get this problem fixed soon, so I can repurchase them. I have always bought my iPhones on launch day ever since 2007. But I will now be taking a "wait and see" approach from now on when they release a new phone.

Similar problem here... old BT headset was working fine (with 2G phone). As soon as I activate the new iPhone4, the BT headset is squirrly (it was one of the Apple-made BT headsets): occasional static; occasional TERRIBLE warbling; dropped calls.

So, I go and buy a new Aliph Jawbone Icon headset (at the Apple store); while it sounds OK from my end, nearly a dozen of my callers have complained that: (a) I sound like I'm at the bottom of a well; (b) I sound muffled; or (c) they can't understand me.

Call clarity withOUT the BT headset (either of them) is fine; call clarity with a cable-connected headset also is fine.

So, seems to me that it's a problem with the iPhone4 (and/or with iOS4).

I'm going to return the Jawbone headset, and wait for Apple to fix things (software I hope; increasing discussion online today about possible phone recall). Then, maybe I'll buy one.

Both Plantronics Discovery 925 & Jawbone ICON are affected. If you have a solution, definitely share. (hopefully, it does not involve downgrade to iPhone OS3)

Yeah, I have a couple of old cheap bluetooth devices that seem to work just fine so far. However, since my iPhone 4 is brand new, I've only made a couple calls on each device. Naturally, my most expensive (and normally most clear) device doesn't work...
