iPhone 4/iOS 4 bluetooth muffled on other end

I don't know if it's the phone or the OS, but my headset worked fine with my iPhone 2g. On my new iPhone 4, every bluetooth headset I use connects fine and I can hear the caller perfect. Except, they say it sounds like there's a pillow over my mouth when I talk. To the point of not even recognizing what I say. I tried calling the house, and I can barely hear myself, and it will cut in and out. Anyone else getting this issue?

I just finished upgrading my iPhone 4 to the just released iOS 4.0.1. After testing my phone with my Plantronics Voyager Pro I can tell you that the Bluetooth issue regarding muffled sound on the other end has NOT been fixed. However, the proximity problem does seem to have been fixed. At least we can now use our phones to make calls the old fashioned way without BT headsets. I also tested to make sure that streaming audio to both my Sony car stereo and Bose Wave radio via Bose Link still worked. As before the audio is perfect and in my opinion much better than with iPhone OS 3. Apple is holding a press conference tomorrow and is supposed to make a statement regarding the iPhone 4 issues. Hopefully they will at least acknowledge there is a problem and are working to fix it. Stay tuned...................

I use a bluetooth headset for 2 to 3 hours everyday during exercise. As soon as I installed iOS4 on my 3GS, I noticed a volume drop on my Plantronics Voyager 855 Bluetooth headset. The volume on the other end of a phone call "*****".I have the same problem on my new iPhone4. Have tried every conceivable fix--hard reset, new pairing, iOS 4.01 upgrade etc. This is going to take an Apple software fix!!!

Same problems here. There are 2 iPhone 4's in the household, and we both have the Plantronics Voyager Pro. We thought that they were both somehow dead at the same time. We can hear others great, but people we are talking to say that they cannot hear us at all, or that we are muffled and garbled. We can hear it with each other when we call, too. I went out and bought a Sound ID 510 from AT&T and the same thing... so, back it goes. I hope Apple has a fix for this SOON!

I have the same issue with a parrot 6100 car kit. Ironically the 3G was the same until one of the updates seemed to fix it. Now I've upgraded ti iPhone 4 it's gone back to the same. I can connect and hear the caller but they complain that my voice is all garbled, when I switch the phone back to it's own speaker it's fine. Also when streaming audio podcasts through it there are regular gaps which is annoying. Please will apple talk to parrot and one or both of you address the software. You know the fix because you fixed it once before!

Before we give up on the iOS 4.1 (or 4.0.1 whatever) update we should listen to Steve's press conference. Perhaps there's a special sequence of Update -> Reset -> Restore that's important in our situation!

I'll also be curious to hear what Tech Support has to say about our problem AFTER the announcements. Please continue to share your thoughts and experiences here.

TIA
Dave
