Turn Off Field Test Mode

My iPhone 4 "inherited" the Field Test Mode from my 3GS (that had been upgraded to iOS4) when I brought across my apps from the 3GS. Field Test Mode with iOS4 seems to operate on an app by app basis, rather than being able to set the signal strength bars or the dB reading and staying in the selected mode for all apps until changed.

So, after numerous searches, I can't find a clear, definitive way to turn off or delete Field Test Mode. I've tried to reset network settings and the usual reboot, etc.

I've passed on a total reset because the Field Test capability was passed from by 3GS backup to the iPhone 4.

Anyone have a clue?

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

You can quit Field Test mode by going to Phone then typing in *3001#12345#* then call while in the Field Test Menu hold down your power button then when the slider appears DO NOT SLIDE IT hold down the home button until the home screen appears you are now out of Field Test Mode fully!

@KiltedTim - Congratulations on being a useless waste of bandwidth. This is an issue that still exists, since the iPhone 3G. Why start a new thread if all the troubleshooting has been done already? Last I checked you aren't moderating Apple's forums nor are you covering their bandwidth costs.

@greenmoo - Thank you so much for this. I've been running FTM since my 3GS. It has lasted through each restore since the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, and now the 5. Your method fixed the issue.

I don't have a problem with FTM, my main gripe is the fact that it switches between modes randomly between apps, which requires you to constantly tap on it to set it back to dB rather than bars.

there's something wrong with this machine.. 😟 This is because my unstoppable curiosity (don't know why) for the darkside. I understand that I'm some sort of paying back for what I've done in the past lol.. 🙂 I guess there's nothing wrong with IOS's I've used and still do, that's because of a tiny software (which is not friendly with the original IOS) running in background, in especially spring board's refreshing mechanism..

Anyway there's no word can express my appreciation right now.. I truly and deeply thank you for your kindest interest and for the ideas that u've generated recently.. But as I told you before this appears to be more likely a fate thing to me.. lol.. 🙂

Thank you again Greenmoo, God bless you mate..
