My iPhone 4 Will Not Sync to iTunes.

My iPhone 4 will not sync to my iTunes. I plug it in and it'll charge, but my iTunes will not detect it. Any help?

Just got my new IPhone 4s and immediately had problems downloading my ITunes from my mac. Here is what I had to do to get it working; Reboot both computer and Itunes, plug Itunes into USB on computer not on hub, when the box came up to register iphone I did not click anything on that box but went to Itunes and where it lists devices I clciked on my iphone. That took me to another dialogue box where I was able to check my settings. On the top you will see tabs with Summary, Info, Apps, Music,TV shows and Photos. Click on Music which will open a new window now click on your preference of entire library. Once you have decided what you want done then click the SYNC box. For some reason it is default to no sync. Go to your music library and it should start to download your itunes to the iphone. Do not do anything until it has finished.

Hope this works for you. If not go to this link and follow iinstructions: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/

Good luck.

In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator". Once it opens, type in the following command...

netsh winsock reset

hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer.

I HAD ISSUES WITH IPHONE 4S NOT SYNCING TO ITUNES 10.5 AND TRIED THE ABOVE.

Ive been having similar problems since yesterday and have frustrated myself trying everything. I figured, "great! now I have to buy ANOTHER iphone." Instead of giving up and handing EVEN MORE of MY money to apple I decided I would just throw my phone very hard at the ground until it worked.... It only took about 2 minutes to fix my phone that way. Uninstalling and reinstalling is a waste of time if you ask me, throw your phone at ground! Thats the way to go 😀

After long time using Itunes to synch with my Iphone 4 without problems, then suddenly today it would´n work I tried to reboot both my laptop and Iphone but nothing happen..

It appears that I had a problem with my Firewall that I installed Yesterday, simply uninstalled it and yeah now it,s all good... It was a free firewall so i wast'n apple to configured it and i am surely never use that firewall again.... I like to tell you the name of the firewall, but i don't know if it's legal to advertise on this site... anyway now it works for me.

I was having the same problem. I think it originated due to an unsuccessful sync previously. Because the last back up was corrupted itunes was having difficulty recognizing my phone even though it was plugged in and showing that it was charging.

i went into iTunes -> preferences -> Devices -> then deleted the last back up.

the next time i plugged the phone in it worked.

For those with a repeat problem, i would suggest trying a different ipod cable or maybe having less things in your USB slots on the compute maybe?

Hope this helps.

Tried multiple cables; Tried full charge; Tried stand alone USB connection on all ports; Tried rebooting both devices; Deleted all backup records from device preferences; Updated iTunes software on MB Pro; Made sure iPhone 4S was updated... I'm out of options other than returning to retailer unless Apple or someone on this thread comes up with something new. Please keep trying and posting findings. It's a shame to have waited to buy an iPhone for years and finally getting one that doesn't work. I'm also reporting no audio on outgoing calls on another thread. Very disappointing experience thus far while my wife and son are off enjoying their Photon Androids.

Finally deduced that iTunes 9.2 is the highest compatible version with OS X 10.4.11

This was an issue I was afraid of since I was still running on an older MacBook despite the salesperson at Best Buy proclaiming that any OS would work with iTunes. Well, the iPhone 4S requires iTunes 10 and now I'm stuck with another added expense of upgrading my OS and the pain of sequentially jumping from Tiger to Leopard to Snow to Lion! Goes to show that Apple will eventually force you to upgrade despite perfectly good performance from older versions. Purchasing iPhone 4S has been a disappointing and expensive experience. Sad to say.
