Hi all, I was having exactly the same problem as everyone here, although not on a PC... on a mac pro!!!!!!! What a joke right?
Anywho, I just solved it this morning, although don't know if it will be the same for all of you. If on your iPhone (I have iPhone 4, not 4S so dunno if it's different for that) go to Setting > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
You won't lose any data, but it resets the sync and wifi sync settings for iTunes... worked straight away!
I also spent hours on this, so aggrovating. Hope this helps some of you out!
Hi everyone,
Don't know if it'll help but this is how I - quite quickly - solve my problem.
Config: I'm based in France. I have an iPhone 4 (not 4S) and a MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.8. Laptop-iPhone connexion: USB cable
Problem: after upgrading my OS to Leopard (10.6), iTunes didn't identify my iPhone anymore. It just did not appear in the iTunes left column where it should be.
Solution: I went to the upper left screen Apple icone and clicked on the second line which says "Mise à jour de logiciels…" in French so I guess in English it it something like "Software upgrade". I manually asked the laptop to look for the latest software versions - mine is set to do it automatically every Friday so it hadn't done it so far since my OSX upgrade.
After a couple minutes, it showed 5 or 6 upgrades available, and one of them obvisouly had to do with the iPhone. I asked the laptop to do all these upgrades and it took about 10 or 15 minutes. After the automatic reboot, iTunes did detect my iPhone like in the past.
Hope it'll help some of you.
Thank you Yellow Elephant! This worked for me!!!! I've been trying to figure this out for months now! Although, I didn't do the whole reboot thing. I just clicked on the music tab. I think one of my problems was that I have more music than space available on my iphone. I selected the option to choose the playlists, artists, etc that I wanted. Thanks again!!!
If you're trying to get your music onto your phone, you can sign into your Apple ID on you phone under Settings, then go the the iTunes App>More>Purchased, then click download all int the top right hand corner. Your songs should then show up in the Music App. It takes a while to load, but it worked for me.
