I was wondering if anyone has heard of the white balance issue being addressed in an upcoming update?
Mine is extremely warm (yellow) indoors, but pretty good outdoors.
I have had it to get cold while allowing direct sunlight to hit it, but thats understandable.
I have noticed in the sunlight while shooting video of a white Boat, the whie area will actually change shades between white and yellowish in the finished video. just sort of flickers from one shade to another randomly.
Also, shooting video of fireworks in my backyard at night, the ceder fence appears to change shades between darker brown, and a rust color....I hope a software fix will help this. I though the hd would be the Sh#$!!
Should also mention that we both have iPhone 4 models. Hers is a 16GB model and mine is a 32GB model. Obviously something is messed up that is causing mine to have the white-balancing issue.
The phone I received also had the most abysmal white balance in poor light, even at close range with the flash. Skin tones were DARK yellow, white walls looked yellow, it was the pits. My phone also had the yellow blotches on the screen, so I took it in to the store and exchanged it. The new phone has MUCH better white balance, so I can confirm that not all phones have the problem.
My original phone also only displayed the problem with the back camera, the front one was fine. Now I am hoping they don't make a change in the software in future, because my camera is fine, as is. I don't want blue whites going forward. :-/
For those of you experiencing this I'd suggest you visit an Apple Store. This looks like a hardware defect as I (and a few others) cannot successfully recreate the problem. If it was software, presumably everyone would be affected. I'm taking pictures in low-light tungsten and the colors come out fairly accurate, even with predominantly blue subjects and no white in frame (as some are suggesting makes the problem worse).
I set up an appointment through the iPhone support line to go to a local store. They looked at the phone and my yellow pictures and gave me a replacement. It is definitely a hardware issue, so take your phone in if you can.
Sigh. Great. How the heck can this be hardware. I got my phone via work at AT&T. That'll be a fun exchange. I may wait a few weeks to be sure it's not software related. Really odd!
Ugh, I don't want to hear hardware issue. Everything I take inside is soooo yellow. I try to point at pure white to get to re-balance but it just won't do it. So I end up correcting it in PS. I don't have an Apple Store near me so I'm gonna hold out for the first OS update and hope for the best.
Well i have a 32 gb and i have a white balance problem, my friend has a 16 gb and does not have a problem.
So my question is do the 32's only have this problem.
Please post what is the gb of the phone you have a white balance problem.
