iTunes could not back up iphone because the backup could not be saved...

I am having trouble backing up my iphone 6+

If it try on itunes, its says "the backup could not be saved on this computer"

I get this message on both my mac mini, macbook pro, and even a pc with a fresh install of itunes (never had it before on there)

iCloud says backup failed once it gets to the end

Even copytrans shelbee comes up with an error message at the end about multiple failed uploads.

Any ideas? I'm guessing there is something wrong with the software on the iphone, but if i cant back it up, i cant restore it fresh. I dont want to lose any of my messages etc.

Did you try what I did? Just figured out what was happening with mine two weeks ago, after trying everything on here.

1. Quit iTunes
2. Open Finder
3. In the toolbar select Go > Computer
4. Right-Click "Macintosh HD" and select "Get Info"
5. On the very bottom right of this window there should be a small gold lock, make sure to click and enter your Administrator Password to unlock
6. Look towards the bottom under "Sharing & Permissions"
7. The first Name on the left-hand side should say "Your Name (Me)"
8. Under "Privilege" to the the right, it should say "Read & Write"
9. Select the little arrows next to "Read & Write" and select "Read Only"
10. Then, click it again, and select "Read & Write"
11. Close
12. Open iTunes
13. Select Backup to Computer
14. Voala!

That doesn't work, and it wont backup to icloud either. 😟

Did a 'reset all settings' and backs up fine now 🙂

FYI - I had same error on iPhone 6. I read elsewhere about facebook app causing this error so I deleted my facebook app and the backup worked fine again! I guess I got lucky & this probably won't solve everybody's problem - but it's definitely worth trying!
