Cannot slide to answer phone calls

I try to answer call but slider refuses to move fully to right and "fights" against me. Have to try a few times and then sometimes works.

Some observations:
Currently have a 3GS but had same problem on a 3G.
Been through various OS updates with same problem IOS3 IOS4.
Only happens when trying to answer phone "Slide to unlock" always works.
Pressing menu button or turning silent button on/off a few times seems to help but shouldn't need to do this.

Have read other posts about resetting phone and ringtones but only use standard ringtone.

Any ideas?

I started this thread with iphone 4 iOS 4.2.1 when I had these problems. I havent had them since i upgraded to 4.3.3. And even then i thought that maybe it was iOS memory problems with too many apps in memory. I found out later that if i quit some apps i didnt get the problem for longer periods of time.

BUT i havent had this problem now since iOS 4.3.3 , 4.3.5 nor 5.0.1 (on same iphone 4) which I have had. I dont know if its because i now and then shut down apps from memory so that I have more free memory available.

Same problem here; iphone 3gs, latest iOS. Needless to elaborate on the nuissance this causes.

@habi, I like the idea that this might be a memory issue. I am almost at the limit of my phone's capacity, so perhaps it plays a role. Will keep an eye on it if closing the 'multitasking' apps will help resolve this. However, I remember a friend who had a 3g model back when we did not even dare dream about multitasking on the iphone and he had the same issue (not sure if his memory capacity was at limit or not).

glonk,

I have the problem on both my iPhones, 1 3G and 1 4S.

I tried to delete many of my applications, as a test.

On the 3G, ths did not make a difference.

On the 4S, this improved things. I can now answer about half the calls I recieve on my 4S.

So, it seems related, but not completely.

The problem is still completely gone while I am charging my iPhones, so it must be related to that too.

Needless to elaborate...

I have this on my 3GS and my 4S.

I moved to iOS6 and it seems to be even worse now. I can answer only about 40% of the calls. Luckily I do most things via mail...

I see the amount of problems growing:

- I can't really use my iPhone as a phone due to this problem

- Every time it upgrades the software, it loses its internet settings, so I mostly run with my phone without internet for about a month.

- I often have problems of SMSs not arriving

- Over 50% of MMSs don't arrive. I've tried many things, but to no avail.

So, _all_ the basic functionality on the iPhone is not working well, for both my iPhone versions.

Many of my friends see the same thing.

I really don't understand that Apple just does not respond to this, does not seem to care.

To me it's clear. My next mobile won't be an iPhone...

Yep!

Steve, interesting that you mention it, as I also know some people who don't have the problem.

Now, what I did when I bought my 4S, is to copy the configuration from my old iPhone.

Did you do that too?

Maybe we should try to "reformat" our iPhone.

I tried the restore function that is in iTunes, but that does bring some configuration. And it does not solve the pb.

Anyone knows if it is possible to completely erase all configuration?

Did anyone ever try this?
