iPhone 4 Screen Scratching

Hi-

I have kept my new iPhone 4 in my pocket with NOTHING SHARP...no keys, no pins...nothing. And I already have a few fine scratches on a supposedly "chemically strengthened and 20x harder than plastic screen".

Has anybody else had this problem?

This is definitely an issue. I have had both the original and 3g iphones. The original phone is still being used by a family memember and doesn't have single scratch on it. The 3G has gone for 2 years, taken many falls, and is still completely scratchless.

I've had the iphone 4 for a few weeks, treated it like gold, and now I have 2 scratches on the front screen. These are deep enough to feel with a fingernail and noticable. New and improved glass....yeah right.

Zagg Maximus Sheilds. Covers front, back and sides. I actually dropped my device once and it didn't scratch while I was waiting for my Zagg to arrive in the mail. Scratch resistant doesn't mean it scratch proof. But someone said it was scratched by a busienss card? Not hardly. It was likely scratched when you put it in your pocket.

I agree. Just like these same idiots are to lazy to get a wireless ear-piece and rather text while driving or talk and hold the phone while driving. If they care they would at least by a screen protector. Zagg is the best. Easy to install takes 5mins of your time. If they had done that, they wouldn't be here spending 5 mins complaining like a bunch of spoiled stupid brats.

To all these "you're stupid for not buying a screen protector" people...apple doesn't think the iPhones require a screen protector. They have said that the screens are scratch resistant. So far this has been true. The iPhone 4 is a different story. At least in my experience. Either way, I now have a screen protector, but that doest change the fact that the new iPhone screen scratches.

Had my phone a week, and yes scratches front and back. I was told in the store I would receive a screen protector in the mail, it arrived exactly a week after I bought it, so if told this why would you waste the money to go and buy one, I mean one week, just be extra careful which I was, but the screen is definitely not as scratch proof as previous models. Maybe we should ask Steve if he puts a screen protector on his phone, or if we spend so much money on these things, why can't Apple supply one in the box, for this there are no excuses.

Guys, I feel your pain on this one, bummer to get a scratched screen on your new phone. But you may or may not know that Apple have form here when it comes to "scratch proof" screens, the 2005 iPod Nano had a notoriously easy to scratch screen... and I think after a fuss was made the dodgy batch was recalled. So you might want to consider complaining... loudly!
