Callers say my voice sounds muffled when using bluetooth.
I have a motorola bluetooth h710/h715 and as soon as I got the iphone 4, everyone is telling my I sound muffled when using it, compared to my 3gs. Anyone else have this issue?
I just sent my feedback. I have trouble with incoming calls to my factory Bluetooth in my 2010 Toyota Camry being muffled and garbled. Had NO problems with my 3GS and the same car.
I have a Jabra BT530 and almost always have problems - but on occasion, it will be fine.
I wondered about the noise cancellation. Last time it happened, I tried covering that microphone but the person I was calling couldn't tell any difference.
Some interesting comments, with people referring to a difference in initiating a call or switching to BT during a call. I can't recall all the things I've done so not sure if mine have have the same problems. I just know I've tested many different ways. Might have to start the test process all over!
Reset and 4.0.1 did not fix it (My phone already was 4.0.1). Both my Motorola and Plantronics lose connection every minute or two and don't keep a connection beyond 18 inches.
Apple says to return the hardware for an exchange, so I guess that's the next step.
I have a 2010 Prius with factory installed Bluetooth. With my 3GS the audio was excellent. Callers often commented how clear I sounded. Since upgrading ($400) to the iPhone 4, every call is terrible. I can hear them well, but they tell me I sound muffled and am virtually impossible to understand. I've reported this thru the iphone feedback site. Please fix this Apple!!
I received my iPhone 4 and paired up my Bluetooth devices. I have two Motorola mono headsets, a Jawbone, a stereo Altec Lansing, and a stereo Motorola Bluetooth. I have tried all the devices and everyone I talk to exclaims they can not understand me. They say the sound is muffled, weak and distorted. If I answer the phone and then connect the Bluetooth device the audio is even worse. I use Bluetooth exclusively and my iPhone 4 is of no use to me. I had to switch back to my 3GS so I can use Bluetooth. There is a Bluetooth standard or protocol for manufacturers which apparently has not been followed in the iphone 4. My gripe is it's an iPhone, not an iGadget. I expect and depend on top quality phone features and the "gadgetry" comes second. Ironically my Nextel phone from several years ago had usable Bluetooth. Why has something so essential and important been left in a non working state?
I'm having the exact same problem. Ever since iPhone 4 was released in Singapore on 30th July, i've tried in vain to use my Plantronics Discovery 925 with it. This is the same Bluetooth earpiece I used with my previous phone, which was the iPhone 2G
Problems include..
1. Very muffled
2. Distorted signal
3. Dropped calls.
None of this happens when i'm off my earpiece, and it is very frustrating while driving.
I just spoke to AppleCare. The representative had not heard of this problem, so he put me on hold and discussed it with his senior advisors. Fortunately, they have heard about it, and told him to reassure me that Apple is "feverishly" working on a solution. I don't doubt it, but my concern is that this muffled sound / poor voice quality, is an inherent flaw with the hardware of the iPhone 4. My iPhone 3GS was running iOS4 and did not have this problem.
Someone seriously needs to tell Gizmodo about this, and or Engadget. I've called apple 4 times about this, and they still don't know?? This is ridiculos. This effects everyone and 90% of people return their bluetooth because they think that's the problem, when it's the PHONE.
Like everyone else - I have this problem too. Thought it was my old Jabra bluetooth - so I bought a new one. That did not work so I bought a better one. That did not work so I found a top of the line Plantronics 855 (I think it was the last new one to be found out there) and guess what - everyone says that I still sound like I am under water. 😟 I am not going to spend anymore money on bluetooth headsets until Apple fixes this problem - I really hope that Apple finds a solution for this one! I cannot hold the phone because of the antenna thing and I cannot put it down because of the bluetooth thing. All of the wonderful service I received from my 1st gen for the past 3 years is just history...
