Callers say my voice sounds muffled when using bluetooth.

I have a motorola bluetooth h710/h715 and as soon as I got the iphone 4, everyone is telling my I sound muffled when using it, compared to my 3gs. Anyone else have this issue?

Whotard: So you think the 4.0.1 update HAS helped improve bluetooth quality on your iP4?

Can you be more specific as to whether it has improved quality for you, your listener, or both? I have no issues hearing people (except for lots of pops & clicks) but when I turn my head away from the phone, they are no longer able to hear me.

I haven't yet done the 4.0.1 update as I'm waiting to see if it breaks anything else....

I've had my iphone for nearly a month. After approximately a week of use everyone I talked with on the phone began complaining that I sounded muffled or digitized. On my side the sound quality was fine.

I have five headsets and all of them experience the same problems.
- Jawbone Icon
- Jawbone Prime
- Plantronics Voyager
- BlueAnt Z9
- BlueAnt Z9i
- BlueAnt Q1

Resetting the phone does not help. I went to the Apple store and got a service replacement, again the Bluetooth worked fine for nearly a week and then everyone I spoke with began complaining again. In addition to the voice problems I also have begun having problems with reception/range and intermittent disconnect/connects with the headsets. These are the exact symptoms I experienced with the original phone.

I use my Bluetooth headsets 2-5 hours a day minimum so I'm probably considered a heavy user. The problem acts like the bluetooth hardware in the phone begins to fail after heavy use.

This problem is making it nearly impossible for me to use this phone for work since I need my hands free and must use bluetooth.

I have a theory that the iOS 4 software has a glitch that sometimes doesn't disengage the noise cancellation microphone (top of unit near headphone jack) when on Bluetooth, therefore it interprets your voice as "noise" and tries to cancel it.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that's what is happening. I'd bet money. Unfortunately, Apple drags their feet on a fix, just like proximitygate.

I reported experiencing both conditions during a call to Apple Care today. DO YOUR PART, REPORT IT.

I've done some tests with my iPhone 4 and a Motorola H17 and there is a moderate degradation in quality on the other end of the call. It sounds low bandwidth with digital noise (fuzzy sounding) and almost no fidelity (no "T's" or "S's" come through). This is a serious step down from the 3Gs using the same exact headset.

On the other hand, the headset volume on my end is very loud, much louder than it ever was on the 3Gs.

This is RIDICULOS! I called apple AGAIN about this, and they don't seem to know it's an issue. Please everyone fill this out!

I'm now on my 3rd new headset and the issue it still there! This is horrible. I can't belive apple doesn't know about this, or their 500 employees on their campus haven't complained.
