I will use a headset and not even touch the phone with a case on the phone, no improvement! 😟 Please help! So far fast phone but if its not functional it seems like a big waste of money for nothing more that a suped up itouch!

There appears to be more than one contributing factor.

Bad Antenna layout - A design where only a small short is needed to disturb the radio, located where people would naturally place their hand/fingers

Sub optimal Software - An update may improve the situation for some people some of the time

I’m guessing that there may also be a problem with the stability of the 3G RF PA due to changes in the antenna impedance brought on by the ā€œDeath Gripā€. This may explain why some people can cause the phone to drop calls or stall data transfers by bridging the gap in the antenna.

Don’t expect a Software update to fix all of the reported Antenna problems, ever.

A software update? I doubt it. If they ever did, then they would just manipulate to show all 5 bars and blame everything on AT&T's network to be honest.

get a case. problem solved

I don't know how many times it must be repeated, but the case can help with making and receiving calls, but has +zero effect on upload and download issues+ for which most users with call issues are having.

But I'm sure someone will repeat the old 'get a case' line in the next 10 minutes. Unreal.

The reception issue didnt really bother me that much I hold it naturally in my right hand and I dont get a signal issue mainly because I noticed my finger doesnt make contact with the space between the two antennas but then if I apply a finger over the space seprating the antennas the signal does indeed drop its like the two seperated antennas cancel eachother out.

But I know having to buy a case is a bit stupid when it should work without it but for a phone that cost 500-600 why the **** wouldnt you want to protect it?

Personally I love the phone the camera is awesome especially the quality of the front facing camera it looks amazing as good as the 3 mega pixel camera on the 3GS.

The best thing though is definatly the retina display, it looks beautiful. The main thing I liked about the screen tho wasnt the shapeness and quality but the fact that I found it hard to tell the difference between the black colour of the case and the blackness of the screen especially when watching a video with the black bars on the sides of the video, the contrast ratio alone is pretty epic.
