Does anyone know what Apple is going to do to fix the antenna problem?

Okay, I am a major Apple Fan, but buying a case, though practical and might save some temporary aggravation, is not an acceptable solution. I have used just about every major phone out there because of the nature of my work. I love Apple's products and the iPhone immensely. Truthfully, this is an unacceptable solution and I wish just once that Apple would officially acknowledge there is an issue. I agree with many that one should not be required to buy a bumper to use the phone. I never had this problem with my 3GS, which I still use. There is a night and day difference between the two. I do believe that despite Apple's inability to acknowledge this, you can count on Apple to resolve it. If buying a bumper will save you aggravation...then..well it might be worth it. I don't believe it is an acceptable option, though.

I have been following the banter for a few days and looking for a reason why my reception isn't as good as I expected it to be.

While I am not an engineer or electronics expert, I did conclude that the only part of the iPhone 4 that wasn't completely designed and manufactured with Apple's strict quality control, R&D, testing and trials was the AT&T produced mini-sim card. A small production error of even .5-1 mm of the border puts one of the contacts of the SIM card in contact with the stainless steel SIM card holder. I used regular electrical tape making sure not to cover where the contacts of the phone touched the SIM card and have seen over the past 1 and a half days much better, faster and clearer reception. From my experiment I find it plausible that the SIM card-SIM card tray contact produces an unfavorable condition for reception. I used dry erase marker to see if there was contact between the two metal surfaces and found there was. I marked the card and found marker on the tray. Not very scientific but effective none the less.

Curious if anyone else is able to duplicate my results....

Absolutely NO antenna issues here, nor are ANY of my friends who have iPhone 4's experiencing any issues.

PLEASE. I'll ask once again. If you are truly having 'no issues' could you post proof with video showing a palm in the zone of 'silence' area. (lower left side)

Just a simple video would shut me up REAL QUICK. That video does not exist. This is a huge issue.

You know Phil, just because YOU'RE not having a problem with your phones doesn't mean that a "fix" from apple isn't needed for the other people who are. No one cares that YOUR phones work perfectly. Maybe you got lucky. People come here to try to find solutions to THEIR problems. Not sure why you feel the need to trivialize what other people are experiencing by constantly telling people that YOU have no problems with YOUR phones so therefore EVERYONE else must be wrong and hardheaded and just need to go return them or replace them. Maybe I'll do that...but I'll keep looking for solutions to MY problem along with many, many others, preferably without all the snarky comments from you...which helps no one, but I have the feeling that you absolutely love being a smart *** on here. Must be bored with your new PERFECT phones already since you have nothing better to do than make other people feel like it must be them since YOUR phones are perfect.

I can say that I'm not confusing the issue with crappy service. I should get the same service that I had with my 3G and I'm not. I'm getting worse in many areas. I can't make a phone call now in 50% of the building where I work and I drop calls in every room but one in my house. didn't happen before. I have to put the phone down and put the bluetooth on to avoid dropping the call.

I am just amazed, that people would blindly defend the iphone 4 when clearly there is a problem with the antenna.
I am an Apple fan and loyal costumer, but if I pay good money for something I expect to work as it should, regardless if it say apple on the back.
Makes me laugh when i see people say just buy a case problem solved, why oh why should i buy a case...it would be the first phone in history that work only if you buy a case for it, not to mention the fact that a case might not suitable for people using the phone with a car kit, the case will not fit in the car cradle.

I talked to both Apple and AT&T and Apple told me that they are not allowed to take returns or exchanges at this time. AT&T told me that Apple told them it's a hardware issues and software won't fix it on some phones. I'm going into AT&T tomorrow and demand a working phone. Apple knows there's a problem be refuses to make it right. So I'm gonna have to go through AT&T to get this fixed to my satisfaction not theirs or I'll cancel my contracts with them.

Very bad customer service from both companies on this issue.
