iPhoto cant import video from iphone 4

Why Apple is not helping here? The Video Import dont working...

I had experienced this problem a few months ago and had originally remedied it with Grognard's fix. This time however, I was unable to import my movie file taken with the iphone 4s into iTunes, even after following Grognard's recommendations. What I did do though this time was connect my USB cable directly to the iMac instead of going through a hub - Problem solved!!

Suggestion:

1. Follow Grognard's steps

Step one: turn off and on your iPhone.

Step Two : launch iTunes and iPhoto

Step three : connect the iPhone to the computer

2. Connect the USB cable directly to the computer (do not go through a hub)

3. Import movies into iphoto

4. Celebrate!!

These steps worked for me after hours of searching the boards and starting/restarting my computer as well as slinging expletives around the office like a drunken sailor!!

I had the same problems as everyone. Tried Grognard's solution several times, rebooting everything. I had lots of movies and images (total 130 items to import). Didn't work until I tweaked the solution.

Here is what extra things I did BEFORE using Grognard's solution.

- I emptied iPhoto trash

- I emptied iMac trash

- I created space on my iPhone so 1/3 of its memory was free.

- I closed all applications

Then proceeded with the usual solution:

- I shut down my iPhone pressing down on the home key and the shut down key in same time until screen goes black, let go, and then it restarted itself.

- I launched iTunes and iPhoto

- I connected my iPhone and imported photos.

Hope that helps.

Solved my problem! I did one extra item that may or may not have had anything to do with it, but it's worth mentioning. I emptied my trash before plugging in my iphone at the end of the instructions. Cheers! Thanks for the post! 🙂

I think i found the subject of error.

Disk space.

iPhone 4S videos weight alot. Video on 10 minutes takes more GB.

So, guys, check you disk space.

This must help.

Use the Image Capture Application and import your photos that way. It will identify the rogue file (likely a video file) that's stopping you from importing your photos into iPhoto. You can then look for that file on your iPhone 4 and trash it. Then re-import your photos into IPhoto.

This got rid of the empty box syndrome and let new stuff get recognised by iPhoto. In the meantime PhoneView gives me a comfortable feeling of having some control over the iPhone, rather than chasing up strange paths with iTunes and iPhoto. Very convoluted minds these guys.

I used the image capture application and it imported all my stuff just fine. But Iphoto would not do it. I tried all your solutions here. Crazy. This is the first time it's done this and I've never had a problem before with videos even up to several minutes long at full resolution (Iphone 4s, so pretty huge files). None of my files were that big this time and there were only 37 files - mostly full resolution images and a few movies approximately one minute and under.

I don't get what the problem is... Something got corrupted but it sure would be nice to know WHAT it is. Importing files individually said the images were not in a recognizable format, like others have gotten. The videos gave me the other error - "could not be downloaded."

OK... here is what happened to me. I banged my FREAKING HEAD FOR DAYS over this. Last resort? I switched my iPhone cable and it fixed the problem. I was using an earlier iPhone 3G sync cable with my 4s. I swapped the cable and voilla! Not sure if it is a generational cable issue or if mine just became faulty... Very very odd. I hope this helps someone out????
