Integration with Audi MMI

Hey everyone,

the Audi Multimedia Interface integrates fully with the iPod touch, allowing users to fully control the iPod music from the car UI.

however, after I updated the iPod to iOS4, the music playback still works but scrolling through music is extremely slow, and usually does not allow me to scroll through music after the letter "B". this is especially true when scrolling through Artists.

Everything was working perfectly before the update.

I have the 32GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch.

Anyone having same issues? Ive looked everywhere for a solution but found nothing.

I tried resetting the ipod, and also restored to factory setting and restored Data, but still nothing.

Previously, when the iPod was connected, the screen would show the AUDI logo and say accessory connected. Now, nothing appears. I suspect this has to do with the multi-tasking?

Thanks for your help!

I've discovered with some web research that you can defeat the iPod app from restarting whenever you play Pandora by simply pressing Play 5-6 times. So start Pandora and press Play; after a few seconds, the iPod app will restart music, press Play in Pandora a second time; then the iPod app will start again - repeat 5-6 times and eventually the iPod app "gives up". Worked for me. David.

In my new Audi S5 Cabriolet I use the IPOD Touch 4th Gen for audible books. Is there any way to forward through chapters in a book without holding down the FF key. if you just touch and releas it moves to the next book. Also, sometimes it just reverts to the beginning of the book as opposed to remembering where you're at in the book...Very annoying if yo're toward the end of a 7 hour book.

I have a 2013 S5 which works fine with the red cable and an iPhone 4. I can see videos, audio, video podcasts, and album art, but no album flipping as with the Jukebox items. Audio from other apps, such as Public Radio or Pandora works. When playing from Pandora, go to Functions and choose the Info option to display the track info and album art.

I tried my iPhone 5 with the red cable and 30-pin adapter, and the AMI did not initially recognize it. The device did show up for about one second, but then disappeared. I tried disconnecting the Lightning connector and then reconnecting. When the iPhoneshows up in the Source list immediately select it and it may load the info. If not, disconnect the Lightning connector and try again. It may take two or three tries, but it will connect and play audio, including the track info and album art. Other audio apps work as well, Pandora with album art. No video sources will play.

I use my iPhones with a 30-pin male to female extension cable so I can connect the red cable in the glove compartment and see it on the dash with velcro.

I own a 2010 Audi S5 with the integrated MMI system and also have an iPhone 5. Just a few months ago.... I took my car into the dealership for them to update the Navigation system. After getting the iPhone 5, after syncing it with my Audi MMI, it showed that there were no playable tracks when I hooked my iphone up to the connection in the glove box. Fortunately, I still have my iphone 4 as well, so I keep my iphone 4 plugged into my glove box connection and keep it in Airplane Mode to use for music only. I synced my iphone 5 up to the MMI via bluetooth and it seems to work fine with all my contacts, etc. I can hear Siri over the speaker system when activated by pressing the iPhone home button. I can ask Siri to locate the nearest Wal-Mart (for instance) and she follows my commands and continues to give me information over my speaker system.... up until I ask Siri for directions to the Wal-Mart of choice. When Siri gives directions, she then only plays on my iphone and my MMI returns to the music that was originally playing. When I try to stream music on the iphone 5 using Pandora it plays for a few seconds then switches over to the ipod function and plays my playlist music. Just thought I would post my experience with the iPhone 5 and Audi's MMI system thus far..... 😉
