Integration with Audi MMI

Hey everyone,

the Audi Multimedia Interface integrates fully with the iPod touch, allowing users to fully control the iPod music from the car UI.

however, after I updated the iPod to iOS4, the music playback still works but scrolling through music is extremely slow, and usually does not allow me to scroll through music after the letter "B". this is especially true when scrolling through Artists.

Everything was working perfectly before the update.

I have the 32GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch.

Anyone having same issues? Ive looked everywhere for a solution but found nothing.

I tried resetting the ipod, and also restored to factory setting and restored Data, but still nothing.

Previously, when the iPod was connected, the screen would show the AUDI logo and say accessory connected. Now, nothing appears. I suspect this has to do with the multi-tasking?

Thanks for your help!

Same problem here - my iTuch has always worked fine inclduing Album art but all of a sudden 'iPod not supported' on 2012 MY A4 and now on an 2013 A6 Alroad too. this is especially baffling as my 2012 A6 avant worked fine.

I've tried bOth the 'red' and blue' Audi MMi connecteors without success and the itouch works great on my Becker Grand Prix in a Porsche.

Itouch is running 3.1.3 - do I need to got back to V2?

I'm sure this has been answered many ways but Q5 doesn't have bluetooth streaming. Also anything you plug into your iPhone with a Dock Connector will kill any usefullness from your phone. Never use a dock connector if you want to use your phone audio apps or phone in general. So what to do?

I have my iPhone 4 and now 5 mounted using the ProClip products. Q5 mount plate, iPhone 5 mount for (original lightning to 30 pin apple adapter cable, not the iPhone5 lightning charging cable). Here is that cable Apple Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter (0.2M) from Amazon.

Now you need 3.5mm Audio Line Out + 30pin Usb Dock Cable for Iphone Ipod from Amazon. This will allow you to plug one end into the 30 pin lightning adapter and the other end has a audio connector you will plug into the LINE-IN audio adapter in your Q5 glovebox, NOT THE AUDI IPOD ADAPTER, go to Audi and get the line-in version.

You'll then need an audio 3.5 extension cable to span the distance from your dash area to the glovebox AND you will need a USB extension cable with USB 5V power adapter which is plugged into my center console. I drilled a small hole in the center console in the back bottom and ran the USB cable down and along the side of the passenger seat. Then you can bring it up near the umbrella holder behind the plastic parts and slip the audio piece into the glove box from anothe small hold I driller where there is currently a small square opening. Just wrap all the cables as necessary.

NOW I get in my car, dock the phone in the cradle, it get's power and my line-in receives high quality (non-bluetooth) audio from my phone. I can use all my apps, pandora, di.fm, etc. When I make a call my bluetooth in the car kicks in and mutes the line-in.

Total nightmare but so amazing. AND if you are gutsy you can pry out the right edge of the AC control panel, it will just pop out and you can slip the lightning to 30pin dongle right behind the AC and queeze it back in and run the cables behind the console. It looks pro installed.

Products:

Proclip Q5 mount plate 854264 $29.99

Proclip iPhone5 Dock 514434 $79.95

Apple Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter (0.2M) Sold by Amazon.com LLC $34.99

3.5mm Audio Line Out + 30pin Usb Dock Cable for Iphone Ipod Amazon/Able Provider $7.88

3.5 Audio extension cable (get the right gender) $5

USB Extension Cablle with USB 5V Car Charger Adapter, not 10V, won't work with 30pin adapter $30

Looks like you all have tried it all. I don't know if this will help or if it's even possible, but has anyone tried contacting a electrics store or retailer, someone one who installs, sells car radios? They may have had this problem and may have a fix or a third party patch. It's just a thought. Good luck.

actually, it's easier than that. i have 3 audis and 1 lamborghini that all are using multiple iphone 5s to dock. all phones charge, play music, and bluetooth (calls and valentine1 radar simulatenous connections) work beautifully.

  • 2012 a4, q5 and s5
  • 2013 gallardo lp550-2

here's what i found out and have installed in each car. there is no need for audio cable...just the oem apple 30 pin to lighting extension (0.2mm).

do NOT use the oem audi mmi usb adapter. it will NOT work with any lighting to usb cables. i've tried 5 different cables include the oem apple lightning to usb cabe.

my setup is clean and works perfectly. see pix attached. i just need to get some black shrink tube to get rid of the white so it looks more integrated.

the flash washed out the actual color of the beige leather of the kuda mount in the q5, but in real life the color match is perfect for my q5's interior. all other kuda mounts in the other cars are black and match perfectly also.
