Removing waiting downloads from iTunes iPad app?

@Alex, the procedure does not work for me, iPad 2, Wi FI, iOS 5.0.1

iTunes shows 3 items as processing. I can not delete them by swiping left-right or right-left. This is holding up download/update of all other apps.
