White Eye in pictures taken with iPhone 4's flash
iPhone 4, iOS 4
iPhone 4, iOS 4
I have just started having this problem. I have taken hundreds of photos of people and never had the spooky "White Eyes" I tried using the "Red Eye" removal, did not help at all.
Same problem - - Bummer that after two years of this problem being identified there is no solution
Very frustrating indeed!
I don't think this is what professional photographers are trying to achieve. It looks maniacal, creepy, like someone else said, like vampire eyes.
Please - don't panic the parents!!
If you get white eyes with an iPhone 4 flash, that's a WELL KNOWN PROBLEM with the iPhone 4 / 4S flash.
It has nothing to do with your kids eyes. As if parents needed to worry more...
I am surprised that iPhoto red eye removal tool can't detect these. As far as I am aware, the iPhone's built in edit tool also doesn't remove them.
I followed this link and the discussion was very similar to this one. No real solution except one person said the red eye removal on the iPhone worked best. No such luck for me. I just got my iPhone a few days ago and took many pics at a Christmas party the day after. I was puzzled and disappointed in the white eyes of all the people in the indoor photos. Now, after reading all these posts, and seeing how far back they go, I'm SHOCKED there's no real solution, fix or app that will correct this (beyond spending a half hour coloring the white eyes with a black or brown pencil in Paint or something similar, and having pretty disappointing results). It's unbelievable. I guess I'll not retire that point and shoot 35mm and it's old fashioned belt holster after all. Pretty disgusted here, if you couldn't tell. Was hoping this would be my go-to camera. Has anyone heard or read any better news/development since this post?
i cannot agree more to this post! after more than 2 years and no real fix for this and not even a single response from Apple!
I am having the same issue which is very disappointing. I would hope Apple finds a way to fix this defective camera feature. Many of my photos have white eye and the programs I've tried to fix red eye do not work.
i have had the most bad experience with that!!! I've a 4 months old son n every time im trying to film him with flash on it happens, n the white eye reflection is seriously looks evilish... It video was so wired n how far my knowledge says human can not have 'cat-eye' reflection so i got really worried n started to look onto google "when u have white eye reflection on babies if its norma"!! N thn i found out something made me paranoid N good enough to make parents panicked in sec .. It says if ur kids has "retinoblastoma" which is a rare type of cancer n only happens with small babies thn flash will create white eye reflection on thm!!! I was almost had a heart attack n the whole night i was crying n looking for advice from eye specialist i know from overseas n they also said ur baby needs an eye check-up immiedetly .. I went to the hospital next morning n they seems to be worried as well n took it very seriously as because it can be a major problem on eyes having white pupil when flash create white eyes rather thn red eyes!! Anyway whole day was miserable n after waiting for 5/6 hours the Specialist had checked upon him n found out nothing... N he said its a problem with the phn... i was sooo angry cud literally threw the phn away... U have no idea what ths experience had been through on us yesterday!!! Complete disaster!!! So parents dont worry too much if u found "cat-eye" reflection in ur babies eyes when u film with flashes on... As it cud be nothing!!!! Very very very bad experience...
