Asking for user verification in App Store?

When I do anything in the App Store, whether it's a free update or buying a new app, I am being asked to verify my user credentials, and have to enter the security code from my credit card every time. This just started happening over the past few days. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

The workaround to go to settings -> store and logout worked for me.

IMHO, I believe this problem happens because you may have apps that were shared from multiple iTunes accounts. In my case, my wife purchased some apps for her iPhone (using her account) and I transferred those to my iTunes on an authorized computer, then loaded them on my iPhone. When I update, I am logged into my account, but iTunes wants to check her account.

Apple may want to discourage the update by anyone other than the original purchaser. If so, a better error message, such as "You are not authorized to update this app" would be welcome.

Using Valentine808's workaround I was able to get out the loop. For those who are still stuck, I realized that my "Salutation" field was empty and that may have been part of the problem (previously I kept trying to fill in only the CCV field).

For those still stuck in the loop, may want to double-check the CCV and Salutation field... see if that works without having to sign out of the store. Any many thanks to Valentine808!

I had this same problem and it's definitely iTunes account issue. If you have more than one accounts and on one of them your credit card details are not valid anymore, or you use to have old account with different email address, this can be your problem. Funny enough, when you buy new stuff, iTunes uses your most recent settings but if you update, it can use your old account settings.
All you have to do is make sure you sign off on all your devices first: mac, pc, iphone, ipad. Then try to update your apps. Your iPhone will ask you to sign in and verify your account info. You will be prompted to your old account with old credit card details which probably expired long time ago. Update all your settings and all should work as normal.
It worked for me anyway!

I had this problem. I went into Settings --> Store --> View Account Information and I noticed that some of the capitalization in my name was different from the web. I don't know if this mattered, but I made all the capitalization the same as the web, and I also entered the CVV number for my credit card. I saved the information and then I was able to update my apps. Hope this helps.

I had the same issue on Saturday. Was stuck in that same loop on my iPhone. Went into iTunes to see if my card info had somehow been messed up. I kept trying to update my card info through iTunes and it kept saying that my card info did not match the bank's records. It would not accept my CCV number on my card either. Nothing had changed. I have used the same card for years. I ended up talking to Apple support and they suggested that something my have changed in the bank's records, like a zip code, or misspelling a my street, etc. I called my bank and found out that they had two different zip codes on my account. One was attached to the card info, the other attached to my other account info. I had the bank correct the error, then went back into iTunes and everything seemed to work. By the way, be mindful of how many times you change your credit card info in iTunes. I found out that every time you do, iTunes will ping your account for $1.00 in order to validate that the card is legit. I had 8 $1.00 pending transactions that sent off warning signs at my bank and they temporarily suspended my credit card until I called them.
